Just checked the LV forcast. They don't expect a break in the weather anytime soon. All highs are above 105* F. Looks like my upcoming vacation is going to be a hot one. the UV index is way up too, go figure. Guess I'll be forced to stay inside the casinos and gamble, so I won't get any nasty sunburn! <VBG>
Looks like Ralphs new boat AC is getting a workout! <S>
You bet it is Lee.....We slept out on it two nights last weekend and it was VERY comfortable in the cabin. And the fridge is right under the berth I sleep in. All I have to do is roll over, open the door, and grab a cold brew without getting up. How's that for survival in the desert? :p

Lee,It IS toasty!!! It doesn't cool off much at night, either......was 103 last week, at 10pm. Ralph, sounds like your A/C was a super investment......but with the lake so low, do you have use your hiking boots to get to the boat?
GT....The marina we have our boat in (Las Vegas Bay Marina) has everything on floats, store resturant & lounge, fuel & pumpout dock is all tied together on floats. So as the lake level drops the entire marina is moved out together and the parking lot is moved too. Where we are parking this year was under water two years ago. So this means that the walk is still the same distance for us no matter what the water level is. The same is true for Lake Mead Marina. But for Callville Bay Marina & Temple Bar Marina, the store, restaurant & lounge are built on land and as the slips are moved out further, as the water level drops, the longer the walk to your boat.
Where we are getting roasted right now is on the ballfield with the kids. Both of them are playing this summer for the first time. Usually they end their spring season when school lets out in early June. But this year my 15yo is playing a summer league with his high school. And my 12yo made the all star team for his little league. Their games and practices usually start around 4:00pm-5:00pm and end around 9:00pm-10:00pm. I haul a 70 quart ice chest full of cold beverages & a portable canopy for shade to the ballfields. We are on the ballfield six days a week right now.
Ralph, Maybe you should have thought about offering a little advice as to the kids summer sports. Right now it seems the time to take, a summer ice hockey course! LOL
Tater, I learned a long time ago, when visiting Las vegas for the first time in the summer, don't leave your sun glasses on the dashboard when you park your car in the sun! YeeeeeoooW! Oven mits become driving gloves, and if you rent a converitable....wear a hat! On the bright side I'll be leaving 95 degree weather here at home with 95% humidity. So it may be hotter, but atleast I'll be able to breathe!

I wondered about that, Ralph! I guess mariners think of everything! (At least they do after they hiked a half mile to the boat during a dry year!) I do feel for you for those ball game evenings. I remember them well............you are a good guy for taking a cooler, so many of the kids get dropped off without even any water! The one thing to remember is, that you will actually miss these games when your kids are in their mid thirties, like ours........ Even in the heat! Oooooh, Lee, I'll bet those sunglasses DID hurt! Ouch! Don't forget to bring a towel for the steering wheel........ For the good news, we are supposed to have a big cooling trend over the 4th! It is supposed to descend to around 100...........but you are right, it's a DRY heat!!!
The kids can haul their own jug of water, I gotta take care of myself.
GT...That's what they tell me, I'm gonna miss all this when they are grown and own their own. Somehow I don't think I'm gonna miss coming home to a trail of ants on the kitchen counter going after the the powdered Gatorade the kids failed to clean up after mixing up their own.
Great advice Lee, but the younger Cajun offspring has the potential support Mom & Dad if he keeps playing baseball the way he is playing. I'll keep dragging the cooler and the porta-shade out to the ballfields, hoping that my investment pays off. Hell....it's got to be better than what the NASDAQ has done to me in the last couple of years.
