Granite stars honoring Las Vegas legends will be laid into the concrete sidewalks lining the Strip from Sahara Avenue to Mandalay Bay, so there's plenty of room for the likes of Elvis, Liberace, Siegfried & Roy and Mel Torme, just a few of the names being tossed about for the first round of honorees.

Just like the Hollywood version, this is not an award, but rather something the honorees or their representatives have to pay for. Once a proposal is submitted for a specific person, a committee will determine if he or she is worthy. If it approves, someone has to pay the $15,000 for the marker, the placement and a ceremony.

The committee hopes to have the first stars placed in the next couple of months.

I can't really see this taking off, but you just never know. It might be nice for the stars that constantly perform in Vegas, but I just don't see, Cook E Jar having a star on the LV strip?
