Harrah's Entertainment, the gambling giant that owns about 50 casinos across the globe is changing it's name to Caesars Entertainment Corporation. The reason? For greater prestige and attract better strategic business partners.
I was reading an unrelated story where someone used the old saying, "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig". It seems to fit this story better. Not that Harrah's is a pig, but a name change doesn't doesn't make it a better company.
It makes sense though! Caesars is the flagship of the bunch that they own. Just like Circus changing to Mandalay Bay. Put your best foot forward I was always told. To me this is great news as I had some concern that they may be thinking of selling of the Caesars brand. We stay at Caesars almost every LV trip, however we get no offers from them, but every other property Harrahs owns we do (atleast one a day). I got the feeling they wanted to move us from Caesars to another property. Heck maybe they still do to make room for thier bigger players??? Anyway, we don't feel the love from Caesars! LOL

I heard someone complaining yesterday that Harrah's is cutting back on their upper teir services. What do they call it, seven stars and Diamond? They said the benefits are being cut back, the level to reach them is higher, and the food in the private lounges is going from hot food to cold snacks.
I'm not real familiar with Harrah's benefits, so I bounced around the interet a little and couldn't find anything on the Harrah's site.
Harrah's upped the Diamond Card status to 11,000 credits from 10,000-----a 10% increase. I believe Seven Stars status is still 100,000 credits. That's putting 1 million dollars thru the machines in a year when playing video poker.
Understand LV is closing their diamond lounges in come casinos. Don't know which ones. Everyone is concerned that it may happen in A.C.. However, others are convinced they would never do that on the East Coast. We will see!
A.C. is saying how revenues are down so much, but the city council is still considering the city, plus casinos, going non-smoking. At the present time, each casino is allowed 25% of the gaming floor to be smoking. If the law is passed, they are expecting to have smoking lounges with no casino employees or slot machines within the walls of the lounge. They are saying they must be sure to have systems installed that allow no smoke to enter the casino area.
This may be related to the private equity buy out of Harrah's. Possibly looking for the end of the current downturn to have a new look for the IPO or conceivable to spin off the Horseshoe properties to raise cash during the credit squeeze.

Kinda related to your recent trip report...I thought I heard that they took a big Caesar statue off the top of a building at your local Horseshoe and the mayor has it in his barn. If it is all under the Caesars umbrella, would that mean less rebranding to do for Horseshoe in Indiana?
