A while back, an ice cream truck was speeding through a school zone and ran a stop sign and was stopped by Henderson police. The driver could not speak english well and lost control of himself and created a lot of drama. The cops called his wife to come to the scene. She drives up in another ice cream truck and she is not in tune with American culture either. In her outrage, she ends up with a knife in one hand and a child in the other. The tazer didn't slow her down and as she lunged towards the police with the knife, they shot her dead. A hearing in the last week or two concluded that the police were justified. Local buzz took sides on whether this Armenian couple should learn the language and the laws or whether the cops were trigger happy.
An ice cream truck just drove by my house. It was playing Jingle Bells. It stopped (to serve someone?) for a moment and continued on. As it left, it was playing Silent Night.
I know this is the land of freedom and opportunity. I guess you can play any kind of music you want in your ice cream truck if it isn't offensive. Is it wrong to consider that someone in this ice cream business is slightly out of touch with American culture and is there a shred of doubt that they might be missing the boat on more important issues?
And what about this....Aren't there left wing radicals that would stand up and declare this type of music offensive in public so loud that it enters your home?
