   Re-opening of Fado
   Re-opening of Fado
The reopening of Fado's Irish Pub has finally arrived. They are now located at 9740 Eastern Avenue, on Eastern just north of Silverado Ranch, south of I-215 in Henderson.

We went to their friends and family night on Saturday evening, before they opened to the public. The food was just as good as before, we had the Guinness BBQ Wings for appetizer, with Fish & Chips and Trinity Steak Boxty as our main course. The fish & chips I had was the best in town, along with a couple of pints of Guinness it was a perfect combination. I had a sample of Mrs. LVC's steak boxty and it was very well prepared also.

The place is a little lighter in color compared to the darker wood look of the previous place in GVR. The bar is a little smaller too, could make for getting a seat at the bar at night a little difficult. There is ample table seating though with TV monitors throughout the entire place. There is an upstairs area that will generally be opened to the public, but can be reserved for private parties.

Several of the former waiters/waitresses have returned to the new location, after nearly a year wait for this re-opening. It was like a reunion when we arrived, we saw several familiar faces working there as well as one regular couple that we always ran into on Friday nights.

Thanks for the update. We've got a Fado's here in Columbus. It's very popular.

Tonight we will see how popular their new location is. They opened to the public on Tuesday and we are going back to our Friday night routine at Fado's.

The place was packed just like the good old days. I had the corned beef and cabbage and it was just a good as always. A couple of pints of Guinness with the meal and an Irish Car Bomb to finish off the night.

As I am posting this message about last night at Fado's I'm sitting here at the bar at (you guessed it) Fado's having lunch. I had the Bleu Crunch Salad with chicken and a couple of pints of Guinness. It don't get no better than this. laugh

Hmmmm .. a Bleu salad, good fish & chips and good corned beef & cabbage. This sounds like my kind of place! Do they serve Mt. Dew? laugh

Have you noticed what took Fado's place at GVR?

DAG...That was three different meals. The fish n chips was last weekend on Sat evening. cb n cabbage was my Fri evening meal and the bleu was lunch on Sat. And today I went back there for lunch and had a bristo salad with diced tomatoes, mandarin oranges, cheddar cheese, red onions and grilled salmon with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing, it was dee-lish-us.

Daisy...I'm not sure about the Mt Dew as I'm a creature of habit and stick to Guinness. laugh

What took the place of Fado's at GVR is that same pub (Quinns) that we met at last year. It's not all that great, no where near as good as Fado's. I think GVR made a BIG mistake forcing Fado's out of there and turning the place into a college crowd bar with an Irish name.

Tonights dinner a Fado's was one of my favorites, blackened chicken and shrimp boxty with tomatoes and mushrooms in a spicy creamy cheese sauce. A couple of pints of Guinness with the meal was a real treat.

Ralph,
Don't mean to be the wet blanket here, but what about your blood sugar?

Thanks for reminding me I have CRS, Cajun .. my mind forgot the Q word<g>. Does Quinn's serve food?

Fado's still sounds like the place for me - it's getting harder to find good fish & chips.

Lee...What blood sugars??? LOL!!!

Actually they have been really good lately. I've kept the alcohol consumption way down. Instead of my usual six pints of Guinness I have two and four glasses of water. And all the working out I have been doing is helping too.

Guess where I'm sitting having lunch and posting this message??? Fado's having a bleu crunch salad and Guinness with lots of water.

Daisy...I don't think Quinns serves food because they allow smoking inside the place. I'll have to check next time I'm over there, but that may not be anytime soon now that Fado's is open.

Fado's act #8 - Last night at Fado's I had the chicken boxty quesadilla with melted pepper jack and pico di gallo. Mrs. LVC had the chicken tenders with honey mustard sauce. A couple of pints of Guinness and I was prohibited by Mrs. LVC from having a car bomb to finish off the evening. We were on the Harley and she cuts me off after two pints if I'm going to ride her home. (I know someone is going to come along and twist the meaning of that comment) LOL!!!

Fado's act #9 - I went there for lunch today and had the bristo salad with grilled salmon again, that is a great salad. I also had the corned beef rolls for an appetizer. Great tasting tender corned beef and creamy mustard sauce rolled in a boxty topped with cabbage salad. These rolls were cut and laid out on the plate looking like a sushi roll, I called them Irish Sushi. LOL!!! Had a pint of Guinness, yes just one pint today, since we are going to Barley's tonight for a concert and I know the beer will be flowing there.

Blood sugar was just a little out of range, on the high side this morning, can't imagine why. LOL!!! So I got back on the eliptical for 30 minutes then went for a two mile run after that. Momma & Poppa Cajun were in town all week and I didn't exercise as much as I have been doing, time to go back to work.

I had no problem when I read about riding Mrs Cajun home until I read your comment about someone twisting the meaning, and of course that's when the phone rang! smile
