Thanks for the trip report. Seems that you have a way of sekecting the worst cab drivers. We have had good luck using the LV Limosine service and will probably use them in the future. The price is set and they have no reason to give you the run-a-round. I heard that cab drivers keep one half of what the meter reads. Don't know if it is true. You must feel like DON JUAN running around LV with two good looking women all of the time. Getting an airline bump can make even a losing trip feel good. Tell the girls we said hello.

Lee: Thanks for knocking off the report so quickly. I really enjoyed it. Too bad your trip was so short--it made for a short report too.

I was really surprised to read about the mix-up with your room at Flamingo. Not as surprised as you though!

Your machine-fill fiasco with Sue was fun to read about although I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time. Why is that always the way when you are ready to leave or in a hurry you have to wait for a fill.

Nice going with that Blackjack streak and the bumps!

The flights all went great. If you recall our last flight from H#LL was on american, and there we where flying them again. I was worried, but things went smooth for a change!

We really didn't get much sleep this past trip and I've been reminded by a lot of my friends lately that I'm getting old. Beleive me....I felt it this trip!
The one thing is, I can't see the sun, when I stay up that late. When we have the mini suite, The bed is not infront of the window, and the few hours sleep I did get, was a sound sleep.

The casinos are open 24 hours like Vegas but it has the feeling of a town that rolls up the carpet by about 2 AM. I've gone into the coffee shop in the wee hours and will be the only person in the whole place.
This is actually the reason we go there. Patti doesn't like the hustle bustle of Vegas. We both agree that Mesquite is much more relaxing.
Maybe in another 10 years when you're an old guy like me and John you'll be ready [img]http://www.talkvegas.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img].

The short trips I always seem to do better. Probably has something to do with shortening the time I'm exposed to the house edge.

The Flamingo mix up, I'm sure is because the Flamingo has her splitting her time with Flamingo and Paris. She's a trainer over there and I never got to see my host the whole trip, untill it was check-out time. She hugged us all and said we're supposed to be all set in the computer for November. This will be interesting, as she has informed me she'll be on vacation while we visit in November. So I'm sure I'll have another hassel. I also asked her if I should start looking for another hotel, she smiled and said "only if it's Paris"! LOL
She seemed very interested on how I felt about Paris. We'll see?

The Black Jack win was from out of the blue. I've all but given up playing the game, except for the Orleans. I like the place and it's friendly. I also like to hold the cards. I don't get bored then.

The bump was a nice ending to a great trip. The sad thing was, we had the option of staying till the next day, but couldn't. Sue's out of all days off work. The November trip kills the last 3 she has, and we're not going to mess that trip up! [img]http://www.talkvegas.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img]

The other guy is pretty cool too. Paul is from the Las Vegas Hilton, and those two get along well. I've shared a few beers with both of them since the move to paris. Now depending on what time you got thier, you might have had one of the break guys serve you, and then you're SOL. <S>

Lee, thanks for the laughs....I assume you've already heard that "you don't buy beer, you just rent it"?? That trip to Binion's had me ROTFLMAO!

They have a new system out at Sam's Town that might interest you....there is a small red circle on top of the machines that alerts you if the machine needs a fill...it's not perfect since I still had to wait for one coin fill, but slot crews really like it since it allows them to keep ahead of the game (and keep some folks from getting rather rude with them<g> ).

I am glad we finally met. The only problem with jumping around so much is you comp points never really amount to much in the places. But as we get older, we have narrowed our travels down to about 15 casino's. We used to try to hit them all! LOL

Any Idea of how the Sam's town thing works? At first I was thinking weight of the coins still in the hopper, but now it's maybe wired right into the workings of the machine, keeping track of coins in & coins out.
What's your angle on this...anyone?

Lee, I am not sure how it works, but Caesars has a similar thing now that lets the slot attendants know when the machine is low on coins. I'll have to ask them next trip how it works. I think this is something they are all going to. If you have a player sitting for 10-20 minutes waiting for a hopper fill, then they aren't playing. The casinos want you to play, so anything that keeps you putting money into the machines is a benefit to them.

I've seen a few differnt ways to speed up the fills. One of them used by a few casino's downtown is to have reserve bags of coins under the machines in the cabnet stand of the slot. This way when they need a fill the money is already there and accounted for, for that machine.
A five or 10 min. break is fine, but I've had some real lenghty waits recently. Caesars (at the sports bar) and the Flamingo (up front) MSS (early morning at VP machines)

Lee, the slot attendant out at Sam's explained that the fill light is a small red ring on top the machine that is triggered by the weight of the coins left in the machine. She said that Mirage was also going to this system, and I read that Trump casinos were also installing it.

I think it's a pretty neat idea, as long as they have the casino staff on hand to properly impalent the concept. A red light on a machine doesn't nessarly mean they'll see it! LOL

It will be interesting to see how many of the casino's follow this trend.

But down time, waiting for a machine to fill at late night, not only does the casino loose money till I'm filled & playing again. There are times when I actually fall asleep waiting, then when the fill comes, I go up to the room....end of night for me!
