Left Columbus OH on Friday at 1:30. Blew 40,000 miles to upgrade us to first class. I begged and pleaded with the gate attendant not to take our miles but he wasn't going to cooperate. Had 1 C&D on a new Airbus. Strong leather smell from the seats which were the nicest I've been in. The head rests had "wings" on them you could pull up beside your head if you wanted to nap. Of course I couldn't nap, would have missed some of the Glenlevits. I drank all but one and the gal sent it with me . Had an hour layover in Phoenix. My friend George met us since he had just arrived an hour earlier. We visited a bit in the America West club then got the plane for Vegas. One more scotch then a short nap before arriving on time.
Patti went outside for a somke while I collected the luggage. My golf bag got ripped so had to make a short stop in the baggage office.
Hopped the shutle for National. Tried to get the driver to upgrade me to a Cadedy but he said a Bonneville was all he could get away with. Gave me the name of a guy in the office to talk to. A $20 bribe and a $15 increase in my rate got me into a Sedan Deville with 14,000 miles on it. This was a great rate. $205 INCLUDING all the taxes for 8 days.
One person ahead of me at Mandalay Bay at the VIP check-in. A guy two windows down motioned for me to come down. Another $20 bribe got me into a nice suite at the end of the hall with a 2 person jacuzzi. My casino rate for the weekend was $105 per night.
Went to the casino and proceeded to get killed at the Pai Gow table. Dinner was with a group of TV moderators at the Redwood Grill at the Caliofornia. Everyone seemed to have a great time. The King crab legs aren's worth the $30. Stick with the Porterhouse special.
Bedtime followed another losing Pai Gow session.
Called Rent-a-Vette Saturday morning to have them pick us up to get our Harley. Gave me the bad news that someone had layed down the Road King I had reserved. All they had left was a Heritage Softail. Picked it up and went back to MB to meet V and Walt. Off to Buffalo Bills to ride the Desperado. The coaster was great. Patti and I then took off into California on the bike. Got back in time for a quick shower before the TV meet at TR's. Enjoyed visiting with many old friends. Left for downtown followed by my friends George and Myra. Got VERY lucky finding parking spots in Binion's garage. They had a special area for the bikes which helped. Roamed around the big car show for a bit then headed to the California for a reservation at the Pasta Pirate. They were about 20 minutes late seating us. Just started munching on some bread when we saw Lee and the girtls come in. Lee's so well known thruout Vegas that they quickly came up with a big table that we could all eat together. Another very enjoyable time with great food.
Back to MB for another losing session of Pai Gow.
We took the bike out to Red Rock Sunday morning before having to return it. Rode 195 miles, they give you 200. This place requires you to bring gas receipts to prove you put 92 octane in. I handed teh guy my paperwork from when I picked up the bike and he quickly shredded it before I had a chance to tell him my gas receipts were in it.
I was able to get a late check-out. Met Daisy, George and Myra for breakfast. The coffee shop at MB has great French Toast.
Checked out around 1. My host wouldn't do anything on the room. Said you need 4 hours of black chip a day for room comp!
Headed for Sam's so Patti could do some shopping. Thankfully they're closing their western shop, that's will save me a lot of money on future trips .
Stopped for a cooler, pop and snacks then off to Mesquite.
Our friend had a first floor room, near the pool for us with a nice fruit basket.
The rest of the week was all pretty much the same. Hit the pool about 8 with coffee and a muffin. Leave the pool early afternoon. I'd get cleaned up first and go to the casino. Patti would come down in time for dinner. We ate almost every meal at their coffee shop. Patti like the steak & eggs. I went between the ribs, steak & shrimp, and breakfast.
Walt, Veronica, Randy, and Kelly came out on Tuesday. I had a terrible round of golf but enjoyed the company. Walt & V left shortly after golf. Daisy was also in town so the 5 of us enjoyed a nice dinner at the coffee shop.
I played Pai Gow the first night and could se it was going to be no different than in Vegas. Played a lot of live poker and a good deal of Video poker. Sat down at a triple play nickel mnachine late one night while waiting for Patti. Ran 100 credits up to 2,400 on deuces wild. Four deuces twice and one wild royal. Other days I hit the deuces twice on quarter machines. They have full pay deuces and double bonus as well as JOB. IN addition, MOnday and Tuesday are triple points days.
Drove up to Zion on Friday, really pretty.
Between comps from the poker room and our friend at the slot desk, we paid $67 for our entire stay (6 nights) including massages, golf and all our meals.
Flight home was OK. Food wasn't as good as going out and the flight attendant was kind of surly. Didn't seem to like people drinking. Asked me one time if I wanted something ELSE to drink. Asked for a cup of coffee late in the flight, it was cold.
Arrive in Columbus 30 minutes late to a typical cold, rainy evening. At least OSU had won .
