Back in July when Paris was under construction I said that this hotel sure looks appealing and last month went exploring the hotel in anticipation of this trip, so I was fairly familiar with the place. It

With dinner reservations at 7:30 we head to The Brown Derby and are seated fairly promptly and can hear Bobby Barrett, the Sinatra sound-alike, performing in the lounge. We order one glass of wine each, I order their famous Cobb Salad and a baked potato, and Walt orders the lobster bisque and the rack of lamb. The service was fairly attentive, it was crowded, noisy, and fun, but getting our food was terribly slow. While waiting, the inevitable photographer snaps some photos, and finally after 50 minutes and several apologies from our server, Walt manages to get the lobster bisque, which is delicious. The rack of lamb turns out to be lamb chops, not a rack, which is very disappointing because the chops were not good quality and the Cobb Salad scores an "Eh". Compared to that one time we dined here, 2 thumbs down tonight. In a weak moment, Walt buys one of the 8 x 10s, and I find out later he didn

We take a ride out to Santa Fe, and I walk out after a couple of hours even. Over at Main Street Station Walt plays Blackjack for a change while I crank the quarter VP for 3 quads and get scratch cards for $5, $3, and $2 and two whole dollars cashback. The slot club desk has moved to where the coffee shop used to be near the Brewpub, or you can get to it from Hotel Registration. At the slot club desk they tell me I can get a comp for 2 to the Brewpub, but the casino host says nope because of the sushi bar, and she ends up writing one for $20 which is fine with me. Inside the brewpub the Shuffle-aires, a three-piece rhythm & blues band, are playing, and I order the chicken sandwich, and Walt the bucket of shrimp, the oysters and a hamburger. The MSS oyster quality goes to the top of the list at half the price compared to the other places.

Back at Paris I squeak by getting into Valet Parking, as there are only 6 spots left I

If there is a poll asking to name the Best Public Restroom In Las Vegas then the Paris Les Toilettes get my vote. Walt says the same for the Men

V, - an outstanding trip report. I'm awed by the amount of detail you include. I only had to stop reading once to go to the kitchen to get something to eat - your food reports were so descriptive that I became starved. My kitchen didn't have any oysters or lobster or filet so I just settled for egg salad. I loved your inclusion of the view of the fountains from your room and the info that from the Eifel Tower you could see into actual hotel rooms. Funny. Thanks for a really great TR!

Great report as usual. Kelly finally saw the Pirate battle last month. We watched from the bar which was a first for me. Quite enjoyable.

As for the Eiffel restaurant. I read where they want to make it "THE" restaurant in town. Would you consider it up with the very best restaurants you've eaten at in LV?

Great trip report! Thanks for all the details on Paris. I was there for just a few minutes last week, but left because of the crowds. Hope to spend more time there on my next trip.

Sounds like you ate well during your trip. You mentioned the drinks where high at the eiffle tower restaurant, what about the food prices, where they equally high also?

Lee: Yeah, I know. My report was longer than my trip.

The Eiffel Tower bill was around $160 plus the $30 for the 2 glasses of wine. That did not include any additional drinks, coffee, or dessert--just the food items I mentioned.

There was a really nice bartender at Gustav's named Michel (Michael). He was there during Sunday afternoon football.

Wow, $ 20 cover for the Dueling Pianos. Wasn't it $5 in Oct ? Must be the weekend cover charge. Sure, it's worth it but the word must be getting out - they are doing well. What a fun place to have a few drinks and hang out.

Leaving for Comdex in the morning - here's a tip for anyone stuck w/ an outrageous room rate during a peak period. - I was booked at the Las Vegas Hilton for $299 on Monday nite. I wanted to stay near the convention center and not hassle w/ taxis or rental cars, so I took that jacked up rate.

I always like to call the day before or day of check in, since the rates on available rooms drop way down. Called the LV Hilton, and now that "Comdex" rate is $129. After I informed them of my exsisting reservation and a higher rate - they lowered my rate to the the "last minute" price and it seemed like I had caught them off guard.

The $20 cover charge at Dueling Pianos was for 2. It's $10 on Fri/Sat. It was $5 for every night in October, but they changed it again to the $10/weekends.
