Columbus TalkVegas Meet
  Columbus TalkVegas Meet
On Sat., Dec 18th, we had a mini TalkVegas meet in Columbus Ohio.
Jeff and Patti were the hosts to Lee and Sue and Linda, Kristen and myself.
We held the meet at The Old Bucket of Nails, which is a really great place in the northern suburb of Columbus named Worthington.
I'll let the others tell you what they had to eat. I had the Italian Chicken sandwich with onion rings and scotch<G>
This place has the largest selection of single malts I have ever seen. I tried a number of different one. They were all good.
Lee kept us laughing the entire night. He was in rare form and we had a great time.
Sue brought us a wonderful box of Godiva chocolate biscuits which are sooooo good. Thank you Sue and Lee for the gift. There goes the diet<G>
I followed Jeff's lead when it came to selecting which single malt to try. We did not try Randys "special" brand. It was on the menu at a mear $25 per glass. Jeff can post the name of the scotch since I don't know how to spell it.
After a couple of hours of good company and laughs, Linda, Kristen and I began the 2 hour drive back home.
Jeff, Patti, Lee, Sue, Linda and I all met years ago because of our Las Vegas bb. These friendships have developed over the years and are one of the best reasons to become active on the TalkVegas bb. You'll have lots of fun on the bb, learn a lot about Las Vegas, and meet some really great people from all over the country.
Lee, thanks so much for your generosity. We really appreciated it.
Ok Lee and Jeff, now you can post what you guys did AFTER I left<G>

John,
It was nice seeing you and Linda and your daughter Nadine. We sure wish you could have stayed and partied with us the rest of the night.

We had a great time, with friends and look forward to our next party...err....Talkvegas meet.

Friday,
Our trip to Columbus started off great and finished great. Got into Columbus via USAirways (Noticed no change in airlines trying to be more people friendly) Picked up our Hertz rental car followed Jeffs perfect instruction to The Sheraton Suites and got a club level room. Called Jeff to let him know we where alive & well in Columbus. Had dinner at American Bandstand (not great)but it was food, and the beer was cold.
Saturday,
Jeff & Patty picked us up for some basket shopping at Longaburger basket works. Picked Hooters for lunch. A funny thing happened when we walked through the door of Hooters, everyone there was calling the senator by his frst name and allowed him to pick any table he wanted. Hmmmm! After they made a bunch of people move so the Senator could have his usual table everything went smooth. I'm normally a breast man, but opted for the wings this time. Then visited with Jeff & Pattys kids for a few hours, and then to dinner to meet John and Linda and thier pretty daughter Stacy. We had a very special waiter, and service was....unique. I had the fish & chips, Sue had a steak, we all had scotch, although, was was a party pooper at first and held off for the first round. We parted company a few hours later (way too soon) and said our goodbye's to Linda, John, & Darcy. Jeff gave us a motor tour of the city at night, and the lights of Columbus during the Holiday season. Then a Jazz club, and more scotch. They dropped us off at the hotel and we staggerd inside for a night cap. This is the point at which time I realize that I'm not a young man anymore and one for the room and to bed.
Sunday,
Patty wasn't feeling up to another day with us, so she bailed on the sightseeing tour. Lunch at PF Changs and a cold beer at Champps befor leaving for the airport for another fun experiance with USAirways. One white knuckle landing at home and that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

Special Thanks to Jeff & Patty for being our drivers for the trip. Oh and the Hooter Cards & pin! And puting up with the basket tour too. You guys went above and beyond for us, thanks.
John.......tell maggie we enjoyed her company as well. <VBG>

Lee, LOL. I'll let Kristen read your report and she'll probably laugh also. If she doesn't just avoid her at any future meets<G>
Glad you made it home safely.

Thanks for the reports. I won't speak for the rest, but I had a little too much fun Saturday night. John, we started with Macallan, then a Knockando, then one the waiter picked that I didn't really like.

I stuck with the Knockando the rest of the night.
Just in case anyone really need to know, the restaurans is called the Old Bag of Nails. I got to sit next to Kathy, tried to get ideas on good campus bars for us to hit. For some reason she said they don't have good single malt selections.
Lee and Sue weren't too sure about a jazz club, now they're sure. They don't like jazz ! Fortunately, I had my American Grafetti disc in teh car and they knew the words to every song on it.
Tried PF Changs for teh first time, good food!
Thanks for coming to Columbus, it was really a blast!

Jeff, Sue had me checking airfares tonight. Her girlfriend that went the day before informed her that in Dresden there was another "special" basket for sale that we missed! LOL
You where the perfect host! Plus we didn't even get into one bar fight...I'd say it was a good trip all around. <VBG>

Hey Lee,

How do the baskets look? Did you get one in your office? .

Jeff, The baskets look just fine, they are no where near me. They look like woven kindeling to me. But then you already knew that
