V, sounds like you had a blast. Wish I could have been there. Glad to hear that the bridges are finished and the traffic problem has been improved. I hated that intersection.
Hope the losses weren't too heavy. Were the vp machines still in the same place at Caesars?
You must have been exhausted when you got home. 4 am is no time to be cabbing it to that airport.
Thanks for posting your report so quickly.

V,

Thanks for the report. Too bad you couldn't get the flights changed or the rooms upgraded.

Was this your first time without a car? Will you do it again? How did the cab fares add up in comparison to renting a car? Also, was it more convenient to hop in a cab or would it have been easier to hop in your car? I still can't imagine being in Vegas without a car.

Thanks for the trip report. Congratulations on the deuces on the triple play. Were you dealt them or did you have to draw? I am sure that the weather there was much more comfortable than it was here in the east.

John: All the VP at Caesars is still the same. I can't tell you how many times I walked by the $1 machines and not one person was playing them. The casino was dead on Friday night but very busy on Saturday, but still no one was playing those machines.

Friday night I was playing a $20 through the quarter progressives, was dealt 2 pair, hit the correct buttons, and didn't get any credit for the hand. I thought this minor malfunction could be a good sign so I decided what the heck, played another hand, and was dealt 2 pair again, and for the next 4 hands after that. After a losing hand was finally dealt, I cashed out. The progressive was hit at least 3 times that I know of during the 3 days, but I don't know on which machine.

Jeff: This isn

V, Thanks for the T/R! Last week I noticed that the traffic on the strip moved much better than usual especially Fri. and Sat. nights. Congrats on the deuces! Did you enjoy the game? I did <VBG> even with the shoulder pain. (of course the perocet every four hours helped)

Veronica, thanks for posting your T/R.

However, you didn't say much about THE GAME.
Did you even watch it?

Glad you had a good time, though!

Jeff, like you I had always rented a car. But on my last trip I did not and I found it a lot easier and cheaper to take cabs. If you are not going to North Las Vegas and have some friends to share the cab rides with it is much cheaper and convenient.
Since I moved to Caesars everything is within walking distance or I take the monorails. I used the cab to go downtown.
And, you don't have to worry about what you have to drink since you aren't driving<G>

V,
Really enjoyed reading your trip report. It was great to see you and Walt again. You did forget to mention the part about you and I taking forever to order at Delmonico's because we were talking instead of looking at the menu. That waiter sure had patience with us didn't he? <vbg>

V, WTG on those deuces (was it LeeAnn's coaching that did the trick?) ...not so good on not getting upgrades on your rooms, didn't you tell Caesars that you're a friend of John's?

That's good news about the pedestrian barriers being up; it was voluntary to take the pedestrian overpasses the last time I was there, and traffic was still semi-backed up.

Glad to hear you had enough fun that you might go back to visit your money<g>.

John B.: Sounds like the VP was good to you, even with that pesky shoulder surgery. Now no more surgery for awhile, please!

Dick: Actually I watched the game to fill in the time between commercials <g>. Seriously, the game turned out to be a lot more interesting than I thought it would be, and my team won!

Bill: We

V,
Thanks for the great trip report! Sad to hear the "win" god wasn't in your corner this trip. Airlines/hotels no upgrade, and I take it you didn't bother with a car this trip either?
Sorry it took so long for me to get to read this.
That jacket from the DI sounds like a class gift!

Lee: Hey, thanks. I don't think there are ever any *bad* trips.

Nope, no car this time.

V,

I was over at Paris last Wednesday. They had plenty of quarter VP machines at the sportsbook bar. Must of been something they did over Superbowl weekend.

V,
They must have changed it just for the superbowl, because I confirmed, MarkN's reply. The quarter machines are back!
That's sort of a stinky trick, doncha think?

Mark & Lee: I agree--that was NOT NICE! I did not notice any other casinos upping their machine minimums--not that other casinos didn't do it, I just didn't see it at the ones I was checking. Table minimums at various casinos were cranked up though--that I definitely noticed.
