TRIP REPORT SUPER BOWL 2000

This report is way too detailed but I know some of you would read War And Peace if it were set in Las Vegas!

DAY 0
We bought our tickets in October when Continental had a sale. $210 and excellent flight times. I booked one free night at Harrah

I haven't yet finished your trip report - I'm enjoying it - but let me get this straight before I go any further - with all the wonderful food - both cheap and expensive there is in Vegas - you bring your own bagels from home????

You must be a Sox fan!

MJ, If I don't bring bagels then I end up eating at the breakfast buffets. If I eat at a breakfast buffet, then I end up eating some bacon and sausage and then some more bacon and sausage. My eating habits in Vegas are bad enough without all that. If my room has a fridge, then I stock it with OJ. If not, then a good VP bar or the sportsbook is the easiest place to go.
Let's go Pedro!

Mike,
Thanks for your post. I enjoyed all your little plus's.
The air upgrade, the $25. in CASH, the great luck at VV, your Sam's Town B-day bonus, the higher S shower heads, your B-D bonus at IP and best of all being in town for a meet.
Sometimes all the little bonuses in Vegas can make it a great trip.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. I hope I have half as much fun as you. I just hope I make it there without going up to see the Indians beforehand and blowing my stash for Vegas!!

We'll be up to see Nomar and Pedro a couple of times this year.

Good Luck!

Gee, Pal, I was just wonderin'.,,

if those 2 free buffet coupons at Caesars have an expiration date - and if you're just gonna throw them out any way and if you're not going back before they expire, perhaps there's a possibility that you may want to send them to a fellow sox fan - who's license plate says REDSOX and it's a NY plate and who'll be in Vegas end of April on the strip????

Well?

I have some stuff to trade which may interest you.

Gale, Yes, I do love the little bonuses. But I try to make sure I don't inconvenience myself too much for a little bonus. For example, I probably would not have driven out to Sam's Town for the 5000 slot points if not for the fact someone else in the group really wanted to eat at Billy Bobs. One habit I'm having trouble breaking is changing hotels just to use the free offers. I'm sure if I had stayed all four nights at the IP, they all would have been comped in the end. But I do like knowing my room is free in advance - it prevents the nasty habit of over gambling for comps.

Mike,
Happy belated birthday! It was really nice to meet you at our Talk Vegas meet. I'm glad to hear that the "lucky charm" helped you to have a winning video poker session. <vbg>
Thanks for the info on the changes to the Resort at Summerlin buffet. I enjoyed the buffet, but I wouldn't drive all the way out there just to go to the buffet. Of course, I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat at any buffet. <vbg>
Look forward to seeing you again in Las Vegas or maybe we will get to see you at an east coast meet sometime.

Mike,

Thanks for the great trip report. We too enjoy searching for the freebies. What kind of hat did you get at Summerlin? Sometimes I think LeeAnns lucky charm takes away any good luck that I may have. 5000 extra points at Sam's Town should have been good for one free night. I like the idea of your breakfast because all of the food available can wreck a person if they aren't careful. Meeting the TalkVegas group is an experience in itself.

Fred, It's just a baseball cap but better quality than most. It's two color, green brim and trim with mostly a beige top. It has an adjustable leather strap in back. The words "The Resort at Summerlin" on the front with what I guess is their logo (it is subtle). An excellant freebie but how long will they be giving it?
The TalkVegas meet was fun but I hope next time I have time to do some VP gambling with other members. VP is kind of solitary to begin with, but my other friends don't play much so I usually am alone. It seems many of the TalkVegas crowd are serious VP players.
As for Lee Ann's Lucky Charm, I have only positive comments - I had only one loosing session after being introduced to it.

Mike, Thanks for the T/R! I was not sure about re-subscribing to the LVA but I thought

John, It sounds like your timing for the Resort at Summerlin was off. I think there was a time in between when they removed the seafood but hadn't yet lowered the price. I wonder if that's when you went - I guess I'll read it in your forthcoming trip report - right? (VBG)

A North Eastern talk Vegas meet is a good Idea. I go up to the Sun a few times a year, a 70-minute drive from here in Southern CT. >>
I assume you mean Mohegan Sun. I'm not much for casinos outside of Vegas but I'd make the trip (about 2 hours for me) for a TV meet.

Mike,
Whenever the Talk Vegas gang is in Las Vegas together, we always have at least one video poker session together. You would certainly be welcome to join us. I'll even let you hold the "lucky charm". LOL
I have been thinking about an east coast meet, but it just seems like everyone's schedule is very busy right now. Maybe we can schedule something for next month.

Hi Mike. I started reading your report on 2 seperate occassion and got interupted both times before I finished it. Sounds like you did some real fine dining-Vacation Village and Golden Gate<G> MMMM!!<G>
Thanks for the report. It sounds like you did ok on this trip. That's good.
As far as my next trip goes, it is still up in the air. Hopefully it will be the week right after Easter. But right now there are too many things that are uncertain, so I can't be sure.
How could you not go to Tommy Rockers on two straight trips??? I get hungry just thinking about the ribs.
Anyways, good job on the report and I hope to see you in 2000 in Las Vegas.

Hi Mike: Wonderful trip report! And thanks for coming over to the TV meet and hanging out too. That was really fun going on Superbowl Weekend, and if I ever get an invitation again by a casino, I'd definitely go again. Glad your gang all had a great time like the rest of us did!

Mike,
Great trip report! Your correct, I'm one of those people that would read "War & Peace" if it too place in Vegas! LOL

I feel the same way about Vacation village, it simbolizes the start of a LV vacation. Besides a beer & a dog makes a wonderful breakfast in sin city....don't it?

It's about time they did someting about those stupid showerheads at the IP. Did you have a standard room or was maybe the S pipe concidered an upgrade? <S>

I swear in every trip report I learn something new, or something I never gave any thought to. I love your idea about the sports bets and making a bunch of smaller wagers and asking for the drink chits!

Thanks for taking the time to type the trip report out for everyone.
Don't feel bad about not getting time enough to do all the things you wanted to do, it is a great excuse to go back even sooner then planned! LOL
