Our first trip to Vegas
  Our first trip to Vegas
My Husband and I Left for Las Vegas on February 17, 2000 from Philadelphia on American Airlines. We had many offers to be bumped on the way out but declined them all, for they were calling for bad weather on the East Coast and not to mention we were excited to get to Las Vegas. Well the flight felt as though it took forever. When we finally arrived, it looked beautiful with all of the lights and glitter. When we finally arrived at the Flamingo Hilton, we did not know what to do next. There was just too much going through our minds on what to do. We unfortunately decided to go to bed, so that we would be able to get up early and start the day off with a bang.

Well we were to meet my parents at the hotel on Friday morning at 8:30 am so that we could go to vacation village and spin for our airfare. Well unfortunately, they were held up in the airport the night before so my aunt who was also out there took us to spin for our airfare. I won a Dollar and my husband won $20.00 so far we were to doing well. We also had those wonderful hot dogs and beer bright and early that morning. After all that excitement we went to Paris to gamble a little and then Bally's. My husband did well at Paris. We then went to meet my parents at the hotel. Then we went downtown to Gamble some more (imagine that). They showed us Main Street Station, California & the Las Vegas club. My favorite slot was at the Las Vegas club called Pick-N-Pop. It did not pay well, but it kept me interested. We then ate at the Brewpub at Main Street Station. The Barbecue Chicken Pizza is the greatest. We then after gambling a little bit more went back to the Flamingo to gamble a little bit more until 2 or 3 in the morning. I found my favorite machine there called Monkey Business (nickel machine). I won $50.00 the first time I played it.

We woke up the next day at 9:30am ready and eager to go. We just could not get enough of Las Vegas. We started out our day having lunch at P.F. Changs. That was the best Chinese food I had ever had. Gambled again. Went to Sahara where we played black jack for $1.00. That broke up the monotony of playing the slots and video poker all of the time. I enjoyed blackjack a lot although I did not leave a winner. We also went to O'Sheas, & Harrah's. We went to eat dinner at Fatburger. Great Burgers there. Especially the King Burger with cheese. Yummy! At the end of the evening, my husband and I ventured out on our own. We walked up to New York New York, Where I won on the slot machine called BOOM! I won $50.00 there and then we left.

Well on Sunday, we met up with my old next door neighbor. We had brunch at the reserve. I did not do well there. We went to the Sahara to gamble a while. For dinner, we went to the Pasta Pirate and the food was wonderful. Of course after all that, we gambled some more.

On Monday my husband and I tried to get everything in that we could, for it was our last full day there. Needless to say we did not want to go home. Well we ate lunch at the Palm restaurant. They had Great food. My husband and I did not gamble there. We decided to walk the mall and spent about 45 minutes in FAO Schwatrz. Then after all of that we went to the Venetian. What a gorgeous Casino. We did not have much luck there. We went back to the Sahara where my mother won $600 on the triple play poker machines and she was only playing for nickels. For dinner, we went to the Palace for there Prime Rib and so that we could see the Freemont experience. That was cool. Then we went back to the Hotel for the last night. My husband and I decided to stay up all night since we had to get ready to go the airport at 4AM. My parents also stayed up with us. That same night about 15 minutes, before we had to go pack the suitcases I won $100.00 on my monkey business slot machine. That was a nice going away present.

We both had a really good time and can't wait to go back. We may be going back in September if we can swing it with our jobs. I can really understand why everyone loves this place so much. Thanks for everything Mom & Dad!

Breeze, you are now obviously hooked on Las Vegas like the rest of us<G> And, it was easy to determine who your parents are since there are only 2 people in the entire world who go to Vacation Village for a hot dog and beer breakfast<G>
Glad you had a good time. You did a lot in the time you were there. No one ever gets to do everything they planned on doing. There just isn't enough time. But you hit a lot of the highlights.
Hope to see you posting on this bb regularly.

THanks for the great trip report. It sounds like you have been bitten by the same bug that got the rest of us. Having a personal guide makes that first trip to LV very special. If you live in SE PA maybe we can get together some time. Hope to see you in the future.

Breeze, Thanks for taking the time to post your very nice trip report. I remember well that "HOOKED" feeling as I was leaving L.V. after my first trip.

Dad I realize that I was there when I was 12, but I was not the age where I could appreciate Las Vegas. Now that I am able to gamble there it is a totaly different story. Besides it was Nick's first time in Las Vegas.

Breeze, What a great trip report!! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. WTG with the winnings! It really is exciting winning just before you leave LV.

Sorry I didn't spend more (any) time talking with you and Nick - just a "hello" at the Holy Cow. I was still shaken up about that black widow on my shirt getting ready to go to the meet.

September is a WONDERFUL time to come to Las Vegas. September (many years ago) was my first trip to LV and I hit on the roulette table as they were calling that our bus was getting ready to leave for the airport.

Hope to see you and Nick in September. Newbies to LV are usually lucky <g>, we should follow you around to find those lucky machines.

Breeze,

Thanks for the report. You picked a tuff person to try and keep up with in Vegas. I know I couldn't do it.

Glad you enjoyed your trip and I'll look forward to seeing you there some time.

Hi Breeze,
Welcome to Talk Vegas! Thanks for writing a great trip report. I really enjoyed reading it. Sounds like you and Nick have caught the "Vegas bug" and are now like the rest of us...planning your next trip while you're still on a trip. <vbg>

Hope to see you soon at a Pa. Talk Vegas meet.
