The Las Vegas trip, That was way toooo short!
Thursday,
Limo dropped us off at the Philly airport, we flew American Airlines, where told thatthe flight was full, but not to volenteer for a bump because they wouldn't be able to get us out till Saturday afternoon. So Sue & I went to the bar to drink. We started partying. About 20 min before take-off we went to board, they where offering $700 vouchers for future air travel, and I volenteered on the condidtion they get us out the first fight Friday morning, They agreed, and where given a hotel room for the night & dinner. We would miss meeting our Daughter & Son-in-law for the vacation Village spin the next morning. Sue starts telling me all the things we will now miss not seeing with the kids, and as she goes out to smoke a cigerette, I call National Airlines and book us on a one way flight to LV in 55 min.for only $409. Only problem is American (the !@#$%&) say they will cancel my return flight if I don't show up tomorrow for my scheduled flight to Las vegas! I try to explain that I'm doing them a favor, by freeing up a seat on an already over booked morning flight, they won't budge. So IU cancel my National flight at the gate and go the the hotel & have dinner and then sleep. Boy was I mad! National BTW was Aces all the way. Tickets totaly refundable too, without an extra charge! They scored big in my book on that one too!
Friday
We leave on AA early flight first class, they are asking for volenteers, and it ain't going to be me, I tried to help them and they didn't want to hear it last night. We arrive in LV at 10:30am and rent our Buick Centry from National Emerald Club, worked like a dream. I will also be using them again in April! Check in was smooth, They held my mini suite for me. It's so nice when you know your room number before you arrive! It was on of our usual rooms and I noticed some wear and a bad plaster job from a leak in ceiling.
Met the kids & Sandy at 12:30pm and up to Vacation Village we went. Spun for the airfare....no luck. Hot dog & Beer for breakfast (it might not be the breakfast of champions but it filled a void). We all sat down at a BJ table so they the kids could get the feel of it and not feel intimadated. I was the only one who lost!
From here on it gets a little blurry, I didn't take notes. Sahara, MSS for dinner at the brew pub, Then back to the Flamingo and I hit the Garden Bar to finish the night. When I quit I'm up $25 for the day!
Saturday,
Lunch at PF Changs and then the Orleans for some BJ and Sahara, Triple play poker and a little Pia Gow Poker and got shelacked pretty good. Dinner at Fatburger on the strip just down a little from MGM. The place was packed and, evenyone enjoyed the meal except Sue, she orderd the double fatburger and it was too well done (burnt at spots). The milkshakes are expensive, but they are made with REAL icecream and not chemicals. Gotta love them!
Dropped sandy off at Flamingo and walked down to O'Shea's & Harrah's to visit a frind who just happens to be a bartender! LOL, anyway I was busy getting pretty saused, my daughter & Nick went on to NY NY, and we stayed planted and drank. Walked back to the flamingo and closed the Garden bar.....again.
Sunday,
We are now a group of 6 Sue & I, My Daughter & Nick, Sandy, and our neighbor Beverly. We all head out to the Reserve. Service stank at the coffee shop for the second trip in a row. It's time we stop eating here. Played a little and out the door to the TalkVegas meet at the Holly Cow, Service there didn't win any awards either in my book. But we had a nice meet and it's always nice to see Gail, Joe, JoeJr., Theresa and freind, and of course Randy and which ever girl he deceides to bring along with him (I think Kelly was her name this time). Well Nick & Sandy got antsy and left for the Sahara, we stayed untill they asked us to leave. Then most of us went to the Sahara, and gambled a little. Gail, thanks for setting up the meet, great job as always. One day I will shock you and I'll organize a LV meet! Just not in the very near future! <S>
Then on down to Main Street Station & California for the Pasta Pirate dinner and back to the strip to drop Sandy & the kids and we went back down to MSS. MSS is running a promotion, where if you get 15 black jacks in a 24 hr period you win a silk casino jacket. Well, this botherd me and I was determind to get one. They hand you a card with a time stamped on it and each time you get a black Jack they stamp the card once. Well I tip the dealer when I play, and guess what, sometimes her/his hand would slip when they stamed my card, and they would accidently double stamp my card. 1 1/2 hrs later I had my logo jacket plus about $200 of the casino's money. <VBG> Then to the Garden bar at the Hilton for a night cap. then to bed.
Monday,
No one wanted it to be our last day! Lunch at the Palm, enjoyed by everyone I beleive. Then a little Pia Gow Poker at Caesars. I must say, the $25 tables tend to keep the yahoo's away! Had a great time playing at Caesars, and expect to play a little more on my next trip. Venetian, was kind to me, I got the Duces on a quarter bartop machine. Then on to the Sahara, this is where Sue catches her lucky break for the trip. She's delt the Royal on a triple play nickle machine! Nice win, she got all shakey, and couldn't beleive it delt it to her. $600 was a nice payday for her, she was on the loosing end the whole trip till then. That seemed to sort of turn everything around from that point on. Everything she touched seemed to spit money. Dinner was at The Unino Plaza Centre Stage Restuarant on the second floor. Everyone got to see the fremont Street experiance from the dinner table. I know this isn't a swanky place, but everyone was happy. Then we stopped at Sams Town to drop Beverly off and we played a little. Beverly caught some luck here and when we left, she was all smiles. BJ was friendly here, and I turned a nice profit too. Back to Flamingo and the kids and Sue & I went to Paris. They disapered for the nickle machines, I went to Gustovs bar to visit with Jimmy and try my luck at the dollar duces machines in the gamemakers. Nick soon found me and we did a few shots and toasted to a great trip. The girls soon found us and we all slitherd over to the Flamingo to try for the 2800 progressive royal at the garden bar. Played till 4am with no luck, the kids had to catch a plane, and Sue was hungary. Met a nice guy at the Garden bar this trip, his name is Tom from ND. I see he already posted on the Guest book, so I am hoping he joins in on the posting on TalkVegas with us. When i last seen Tom, he was still chasing the progressive royal. I sure hope he got it, and not one of the team players that where sure to swoop in on a jackpot that size.
Late nite snack at Lindy's, the place is poor at best. then up to the room to pack and a power nap. Plane ride home was ok, sat on the tarmack for about 1 1/2 hrs in Dallas, storms.
Overview,
1 The trip was great, Had a great time with everyone. It was too short.
2 Never got to get the kids or beverly & Sandy to a show. Everyone just wanted to gamble this trip. I feel bad for not getting them to see a show. But like Nick said, next trip in September! LOL
3 I finished ahead for this trip. It's been a long time coming. Sue finished slightly down.
4. I won't eat at the Reserve coffee shop again.
5. Emerald Club rules....nuff said!
6. We are going to give National airlines a try.
7. I now actually hate the Fremont Street Experiance. I used to just dislike it.
8. Lots of bums in the UP casino.
9. I regret to inform you all, for about the 10th trip, we still did not find the time to eat at Vitto's at the Orleans.
11. Helicopter ride of the strip had to be postponed due to weather. Bummer We would have gone earlier, but the place on the strip wanted double what the other places where charging.
PS> It's pretty bad when your daughter, that has never posted anything on a BB before, gets her trip report up before a moderator does!
