   Trip Report Teaser
   Trip Report Teaser
I am writing this "trip report teaser" from an internet kiosk on the second floor of the Monte Carlo during a break in my seminar!

Had a great dinner at Delmonico's last night. When I called for a reservation, they didn't have any available, but she suggested that, if I had a small party, I might eat at the bar. I told her they don't get any smaller than a party of one, so I had a great dinner at the bar. More details in my trip report.

Mark,

How about a litle more info on the internet kiosk for those of us who don't carry a lap top to vegas.

Jeff --

I just kind of bumped into the internet kiosk located on the second floor of the Monte Carlo, which is where the meeting rooms are. It's right in the hallway next to a bank of telephones. Here's how it works:

It's completely self-serve. The cost is $1.00 per 5 minutes. It takes cash or credit card, and if you use a credit card the minimum charge is $5.00 (for 25 minutes), then $1.00 for each five minutes thereafter. It's got a keyboard, mouse and screen. You log-on after inserting your money or credit card, and you can choose from various options. One option is to browse the internet, another option is AOL access for those who have an AOL account. And that's all there is to it. Access is fast, and I had no problems for the 1/2 hour I was on-line.

I presume there is similar internet access elsewhere; for example, I would think the business centers in most of the new hotels would have some internet access similar to this.

NYNY has internet access in their business center located near check-in. I can't remember what the charges were exactly, but they seemed reasonable, like $10 for 1/2 hour.

MGM, at one time anyway, had internet access as well.
