Excellent trip report. Really enjoyed reading it. Sounds like you & Jen had a great time.

Speaking of Dollar Car Rental...In looking around for rentals for my upcoming 4 day April trip, I found that renting from Dollar at the airport location was just about 1/2 the price of renting from Dollar locations in hotels. Intermediate at the airport was $24.99 plus taxes per day. Mirage and Las Vegas Hilton, both $47.99 plus taxes per day for same time frame and same car. Big difference, even if hotels still don't have one of the taxes that airport location does.

I actually like not having a car, if we aren't planning on going out into the desert or something like that.....but when we take my parents, easier having one as we haul along a wheelchair everywhere we go for my Dad.

V, Great report as always. Isn't it amazing how us "old folk" can run these young people ragged in Las Vegas?<G> They can't keep up with us!
I noticed the speed traps in Las Vegas this past Oct. I doubt that I will rent a car from now on. It is just easier and cheaper to take cabs most of the time.
Dinner at Aureole sounded great. My taste in food leans more towards your dinner than it does towards Jens. I guess great minds think alike<G>
Glad you had a good time. I'm trying desperately to find a way to make and April trip the week after Easter. Linda wants to go but finding someone to take care of the dog is still a problem. I know I can get a room at the last minute and airfare is still available although it is not cheap.
I enjoyed reading your report. You can email me the parts you left out<G>

Lee: National's 3-day charge of $137 was only a few dollars lower than the 6-day April reservation, also a little part of why I cancelled. They really get you for the short-term rentals.

Lee Ann: It seemed like all the cars in Caesars valet parking lot were all white. I think that's good enough proof of our theory.

Daisy: Yes, many times, believe or not!

Susan: Although it has been mentioned from time to time that car rental from a hotel is cheaper because it saves on the taxes, I have never found that to be true lately any time I checked rates at the hotels. Maybe this was true at one time, but so far not in the past 6 months that I have found. Maybe someone else has had a different experience?

John: Doesn't your vet board dogs or can recommend someone to come to the house a couple of times a day? That's how I found my pet sitter who is also knowledgeable about the insulin injections. I know that some of the vet technicians will also make house calls while you are on vacation.

V, our vet made the remark that our dog doesn't board well this past Jan. She didn't eat the entire time there. But that was before we got her on insulin. A friend suggested we board her with the vet also. I just don't know if she would make it if we were gone for a week. She's blind now also.
I'll think about it and see what Linda thinks. I REALLY need a trip to Las Vegas. I have to call the vet tomorrow and I'll see what he thinks about the idea of boarding her.

Veronica & Gail:

I assume I was the "Mark" you were keeping an eye out for at MSS; makes me feel that much worse about not being able to make it!

Actually, I was keeping an eye out for Veronica during my travels because I remember her from Yvette's video that Joe Taylor made a number of years back with the Prodigy folks.

Anyway, I really DO hope to make a meet some day soon.

Mark: I am just teasing you! Please don't feel bad. And there's always next time.

If you were looking for me based on Joe Taylor's video for Yvette, no wonder you didn't find me. I was a lot younger back then <g>.

Seriously, that video was the greatest, wasn't it? I think when Joe made the video, I had never met anyone on the BB yet. I should watch the whole video again, as I haven't sat down and looked at it in a very long time. Thanks for the reminder!
