The second day of my trip began with a 6 a.m. (9 a.m. ET) work conference call. Just the thing for a hangover. After the hour call there were several other work-related calls, and then it was off to my seminar at the Monte Carlo at around 9 a.m.
Venetian valet took about 10 minutes to get my car.
By the end of the seminar I was ready for a beer or two with some TalkVegas friends at the MSS Brewpub. But first, I had to make a quick call to the office to see if any fires needed to be hosed out (this was a work-related trip, after all). Well, about 4 raging infernos and 3 hours later, I knew I had lost any chance to make the mini-meet at MSS. That was my biggest disappointment of the trip, which is saying a lot since the tables were NOT kind to me.
It now was about 8 pm, and I decided to try Mon Ami Gabi at Paris for dinner. Had the escargot appetizer, which was good (though I would be tasting the garlic until noon the next day). Then I had the roqufert steak, which was excellent. Cooked exactly as I ordered, and every piece was wonderfully edible. Very tasty, but I could FEEL my arteries hardening. The steak came with crispy onions. With a few glasses of wine the meal came to a reasonable $60, pre-tip.
Spent the remainder of the night playing breakeven blackjack at Paris and the Venetian. With the second day of my seminar coming up tomorrow, I hit the sack at about 1 a.m., exhausted.
