5/16/00 United Airlines had sent a trial Premier membership card to my daughter and my husband which entitled them to Premiere check In (1st class), Priority Boarding and Seating in their 5" extended leg room seats. Although I am the person who flies most in this family they did not send it to me. We got into the 1st class line assuming we'd have our seats upgraded with these cards. Nothing ever works the way they say it will. We had a big hassle at check-in. Our seats which had been in row 18 on our E-tickets were changed alright but all the way to the back of the plane in Row 54 - a typical United maneuver to issue someone a Premier card only good for 2 weeks and then move them to far worse seats than they already had. After asking for a supervisor, they finally seated us in the bulkhead and gave us a certificate good for a 1st class upgrade good for a year. At least that made some sense, but we didn't get this without complaining and seeing a supervisor. However, that accomplished , it was an excellent flight.
Stopped at VV. I won $5 on spin - hubby got $1. Played match play BJ and got one - won a little at the slots and we were gone. Harry (hubby) was in agony due to an arthritic attack - could barely walk. He had insisted on taking our laptop which translates into I got to lug it - he certainly couldn't. Checked in easily at Las Vegas Club - great room, 1136 at end of hall - gorgeous view. Played Jackpot party for 2 hours - ahead a little, so not a bad way to start.

5/17 I was up by 5 and anxious to get started. We went to Bellagio for lunch. I know many of you are not buffet fans, but this is wonderful. Went over to Caesars to pick up our tickets for "Smokey Joe's Caf

WTG getting that first class upgade for a year, Joyce. I've played some VP at the Las Vegas Club, but I've never stayed there ... can you describe the room a bit more?

Although I enjoy buffets, I've never tried the Golden Nugget, but it sounds like I should<g>.

LOL ...I loved your description of the monkey slot...I gamble for entertainment, and that does sound like fun!

Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Thanks for posting a trip report. You sure didn't let any grass grow under your feet on this trip. Even with hubby in pain! Hope your husband is feeling better. I stopped lugging the lap top a while back. I don't have the time for a computer on a busy LV trip anyway.
The breakfast special at LVC, is that 7 days a week or just certin days?
I understand the Great Moments room is pretty darn good there, but I have never tried it.
Thanks for the Las Vegas fix, for us Las Vegas junkies! <VBG>

Joyce, great job on the report. Don't think that there are not a lot of buffet fans out there. Just look at the lines to get into them. Some people don't care for them but a lot of people do. And you did a good job letting everyone know your experiences with them.
Sorry you did not like Smokey Joes Cafe. I will be there this Thursday and am looking forward to seeing it
I have heard from some other people that the Upper Deck is pretty decent for breakfast. Thanks for taking the time to post your report.

Joyce,

What did you think of the Longhorn casino? Did you observe their selection and number of VP machines? We often stay at Sam's Town and could walk there. Extra hours in the airport can be a disaster. Only once have I seen anyone set off the bells and whistles there. Most people have my kind of luck at McCarran.

Fred, The last time in the LongHorn, it smelled like urine, as we walked in the doors and left without looking arouund. Take a trip to AZ Charlies, or Boulder Station first.

Daisy - The rooms at LVC are comfortable and fairly large. They have 2 small couches with a cocktail table. There is a lit vanity in the room and the usual bed, large high chest with TV. The South tower was renovated about 5 years ago. If you're looking for luxury this is not the place, but I think it's nice.

Lee - the breakfast special at LVC is Monday thru Friday for sure - I can't remember about Friday and Sat. Next time I am determined to have dinner at the Great Moments room - it looks nice, and I've heard good things.

John - I want to hear your impression of Smokey Joe's Cafe. Almost all whose reports I've read liked it - we just didn't like the music all that well and expected more of a theme. The price was right -that is for sure. <g> Have a great trip yourself!

Fred - the Longhorn would be judged by almost anyone's standards as a dump/dive. Lee is right about its being rundown. However, I didn't smell anything objectionable, and the dealer and pit boss were friendly and cordial. Also it's tough to find BJ rules that good anywhere in LV or anywhere else. I would go again. As far as VP I can't help you - I don't play VP so I really never looked -they did have all the reel slots you see everywhere else, but I didn't do well on them. As far as the airport slots - we thought we saw a big winner - a guy walked up to a quarter slot, put in his money and after one spin tons of money came barreling out. Turns out he hadn't won anything - by mistake he hit the "cash out" button after having inserted a $50 bill. I guess that's the way to win at the airport - just insert money and cash out!

Joyce, I liked the music in Smokey Joes Cafe, I normally can't follow too much of a story, because those that have a story I fall asleep at! LOL
That's what I need for the airplane ride home 200 quarters in my pocket! <VBG>

Joyce, thanks for the info. Sometimes I want the luxury of all the bells & whistles (ie, a jacuzzi<g> ) in my hotel room, but most of the time I just want a clean, safe place to sleep since I don't normally spend that much time in the room in Las Vegas.
