Hi Everyone! This is my very 1st Trip Report. Can't tell you how much I enjoy reading them so I thought I'd take a stab at it.
Left L.A. @ 4 pm w/ dad, my son and bowling partner (we're bowling a tournament @ the showboat on Sat. & Sun.) Driving down the I-15 and hear Radio station 98-99 FM (the Mohave highway station) reporting "dust" blowing up by Baker and @ Primm. Sure enough, just mins. from Baker, lots of dust yellowing the air and sky, blowing thick patches across the freeway. We drive through this eerie looking stuff from Baker to Primm, our distination.
Check in @ 8pm, into Primm's newly refurbished rooms. Here I find a pleasing, standard room w/ a TV, a bed, a current edition of Casino Player and a COFFEE MAKER.
Well, I just can't contain myself. I've covered dad's room w/ points off my card & my room was booked from a promotion that offers 2 free days ea. month., from June thru August. Rooms at the Primm run around $33+ a night, Sun-Thurs.
Word of advice: If you ever book a room @ the Primm, request it close to the casino. Our room was at the end of one of the longest corridors that I've ever had to walk w/ a suitcase. This is no exaggeration. Anyhow, on to the casino where I play various slots and VP machines. In less than an hour I'm down $60. Stroll to the Fashion Mall and spot 3 men staring down at a 50-cent slot machine that just hit for $1199 -- not saying anything, motionless. I play a machine on the other side of this bank of machines and
lose $20 in a matter of 4 minutes. These guys are still waiting on an attendant!
Break for dinner at midnight. Coffee shop was almost empty, less than 4 tables occupied. Order a Ruben sandwich. It was thick, juicy and tasty. Figure I'll burn off the extra calories on my trek to the room and
call it a night.
Depart the next morning to Las Vegas. Took advantage of the harrah/Rio promotion during a previous visit so I stop at the Rio to turn in my $100 voucher. Gamble very little here. Highlight for me was finally cathing the parade in the sky. Highlight for dad, son and bowling partner was the waitresses.
We arrive downtown, Vegas. Bowling partner is staying at the Fitzgerald on non-transferable promotion that I received. So I've checked him in @ $10 a night & make him swear to me that he will play my card the first night of his stay so I can continue to receive their discounted room offers. I play quarter VP @ the bar on the 2nd floor, but am dealt very few full houses or 3 of a kind. Walk away $40 down. Watch Elvis impersonator who's not too bad. Caught him there back in March.
Mosey back to my home base (the Fremont), where I've checked in both myself and dad/son. I've got to plug the Fremont here. Have been a regular customer for 2+ years. The Fremont people are the friendliest casino staff that I've come across, the hopper fill waits are short, and valet parking is literally 18 steps away from registration. Only negative - bathrooms are too small!
I throw my bag on the bed and head down to the $1 VP machines. Insert $20 & cash out $60. Proceed to the 50-cent VP machine (across from the bar) and play only 3 coins when I hit 4 deuces! $600 hand pay.
I don't play max. coins on the 50-cent or $1
VP--will play max coins on quarter machines. My gambling butget stretches nicely over my stay this way. I know a lot of people may be agonizing over not playing max. coins on the higher denominations -- but that's just how I play )
I'll continue Part II tomorrow.
