   Hot Not TR.
   Hot Not TR.
Hi all,
Well I got there! But it wasn't pretty.I flew UA and the flt's.were great and on time even early! I upgraded to 1st cl.using miles and all was good almost? On my last leg returning to NY.from ORD.My seat mate was not the one I would choose to sit next to anywhere.Just my luck to get Jerry Springer as my seat mate Ugh! Not my favorite person by any stretch.Otherwise flt's were great.Picked up my Hertz rental Gold # 1 club went directly to car. A nice Crown Victoria.I didn't go to luxury car this time as they weren't taking any coupons during this period?? These blackout dates for coupons are more and more lately?? It cost $272.- for the week 7 days.

I stayed at NYNY.this trip.I don't think I'll stay there again unless they give me a great offer. It's just too hectic it was packed and it was mostly on the warm side which I found distracting. Also when I arrived I tried the$20 act NOT>.....I put $40.on the counter and the girl took my Diners Club card from under the money and went to make my resv. I said never mind I'll come back later.I figured I'd wait for a different clerk! Anyhow I played awhile and saw a new girl at the counter.Same act put the $40 on the card Not......I figured this is not going to work here so I asked for an upgrade and she said it was fully booked in those rooms??? A bit of advice here Do not go to Asian clerks both of these clerks were Asian I just think they don't get it yet!!!IMHO.

They put me in the NY tower no good .These rooms are not nice and I was a mile away from the elevators?? I called the front desk to voice my displeasure and asked for a host.I got a very nice woman and I explained that if I had to stay in this room I would check out and go to another hotel! She said she would work on it.She did next day I moved to the Century tower a step up a big step up.I was put in room 3434 right on the corner with a sweeping strip view and airport view also.It was very large and had a safe and refrig.in it with large bathroom with two sinks etc.I was happy and called the host and told her so.I told her I would leave her a token when I left.

I lost the first night at NYNY and MGM.This would be repeated the entire trip sadly.Wow this was the worst trip ever for me.Gambling wise and the heat ugh!I arrived May 9th and it was 104% it was a record for this date as was a few other days before I left on the 16th.I don't like Las Vegas when it's hot period no more hot weather trips for me!

I also found prices out of line $2 and $3 bottles of water etc.I think I lost more this trip because it was so hot I didn't want to go out?? I saw some good shows though and I had great meals at S&W and Palm but was disapointed at Emeril's it just wasn't good? The service was also poor very poor and the fish tasted and smelled old!The clams and shrimp were ok.but I did not like the dinner.I've eaten here before and was pleased but not this trip.I hope it was just a bad day? I also ate at Wolfgang's and Fatburger and Sam's town.I must say those blue plate specials at Sam's are quite the good deal IMHO.I went to Rio to cash in my points.I tried the buffet using some pts.I have to say I found it almost as good as it was awhile back.Especially the Roasted Lamb and the salmon and desserts. It was just good.

I was told by the slot desk at the MC.that points now expire in 6 months?? So It's best to cash in while your there IMHO.I cashed in for $119.there I also cashed in at Rio,Harrah's,MC.MGM,NYNY,Ceasar's,Luxor and my points were wiped out at others.I have over 5000 pts.at Sam's town and Station casinos I'll use them next trip.LV is changing a lot especially in the comps and prices they now charge for things the used to give away. But it's still the only place like it!All and all I enjoyed it as I always do but I wish I could have won something I did hit a $200 at the FH.and they gave me a slip for a slot tournament in June. No thanks!I got to see Paris,Venetian and really like Paris I may try that next trip? I still think Bellagio is the best.I also forgot how really nice and adult and cool the MC.is.I wish they would go back to casino rates I'd stay there in a heartbeat. This is the first trip in memory
I did not venture downtown.I just didn't see any reason too!It was also the first time I didn't win at Sam's town.I found the heat too much to handle I did not use the mono rails etc.to get around the strip because of the heat.I drove or took cabs.Well I left a lot of stuff out but you get the general feeling of what went on for me.I feel a little like Lee did I think?? Hope you liked my TR.See you in town around the fall.

Bob, I loved your trip report. Sorry about the flight. I take it you didn't chant "Jerry,Jerry,Jerry" the whole way home?<LOL> The losing trips are all to familiar to me. Sorry to hear about your room at NYNY. Do you think that being a big hotel they don't see you as a person just another bother? I like the smaller properties better myself. We were in Vegas in July once. The heat didn't bother me that much. That surprised me. I hate it at home when it gets hot. I must have been in that vacation mode. Hope your next trip is more profitable. Kathy

Bob,

First of all, thanks for getting a trip report posted so quickly. I drag for days after returning.

Sorry that the gambling wasn't more profitable, but didn't sound like it will keep you from returning.<g> Never thought about losing more during hot weather........but it sure makes sense.

I've mentioned a summer trip again, but Fred doesn't agree. You reminded me of just how hot it can be and we definitely like to venture outside a great deal. I definitely don't like being confined to casinos and vehicles.

The Monte Carlo may be in our plans once again for a future trip. Always enjoyed our stays there even without being comped.

Was Sam's busy or empty when you were there?

Thanks, again!

Bob:

Thanks for taking the time to write your trip report. Enjoyed it. It gives us all our Vegas fix!!

Sorry you didn't come home a winner though. Also sorry you had the seat partner you did. I'm not a big fan either. Hopefully he's different off the show.

I think your right about being a number at some of these places? I may go back to MC.next trip we will see?

Beth
Sam's was fairly crowded not like it used to be but so so.No losing won't keep me away from our favorite place I'll just win next time to show them<G>.

Susan
Actually he was rather nice! These people kept coming up asking him for autographs? Why I don't know? But he was gracious and kind to them even when we were eating?? Talk to you all later.

Bob G.,
Thanks for the great report, the down side being the loosing trip however! I was going to ask you where you'd think of staying next trip, But I see from your post your already thinking of giving the Monte Carlo another try, even at the current rates. One other Idea about summer trips, have you ever thought of staying downtown where you'd have many casinos to choose from with very little exposure to the summer sun & heat?
Your seat mate wouldn't have impressed me at all, but very few people would.
We've also been clearing out the slot card accounts before we leave at the places where we play a lot. It just makes sence! I'd rather have the cash in my pocket, then have then restructure the blasted thing and only get half on my next visit.
Thank you so much for the trip report and the speedy posting of it too. I'm putting everyone on notice.....don't expect that kind of quickness from me. I need to recover before I can type one out!

Lee,
your right about the TR.I should hve waited a little longer.I left a lot out but as you said it takes awhile.I'm still tired!MC.was sooooo cool I just wanted to stay there all the time. It's funny the one "jackpot" I won $200.at FH they gave me an entry form for a slot tournament in either June or July! Not! Thanks but not me.I'm looking at a few trips in the months of Oct.and Thanksgiving and Christmas maybe NFR too? Thanks for reading my TR.TTYL.

Bob,
You can always add more details of your trip report later as you remember them! I know I won't mind more information!!! <VBG>

I just don't get the fuss about MC, I have never stayed there, but can't find a reason to want to. I have never hit anything inside the place, never had a good time on the tables there either. So maybe that is what I'm basing my experiance on? You know, people like the places they win at!

Lee,

I like MC, but the machines have not been good to me. Only win was $1,000 at bingo(too long ago) and that's been closed for many years. Usually play closeby at NYNY.

Beth -Lee,
I only won once at MC.too? I do not do well at NYNY.either? My wins have been at other places FH,Ceasar's,Bally's and a lot at Sam's town.I also had a nice win at my only time in the place at the IP? I didn't do bad at Harrah's and Rio at times. It's just the luck of the draw I guess? Like Lee said you like the places you win at but in my case that's not too true. It's just that MC.was nice and peaceful and cool.I may try Caesar's or Paris if I can get a good deal.I enjoyed Caesar's this trip and Paris too.

I'll see who has the deals? BTW my flt.back from LAS to ORD only took 2hrs.51 min.nice fast flt.it continued on to Columbus OH.for our friends who are in that part of the country I like that flt? I don't know the options going out west? But it was UA and I liked the short flt.to ORD and the 1hr.30 min.flt.to NY.One more item I left out was I visited someone in the MGM and I forgot how nice and large those rooms are! Now if it wasn't so far to everything from those elevators? MGM seemed much more open and less cramped and hectic than I remembered? On that note I aaalso thought that TI is looking good too.Did they upgrade the rooms there? I still think they have one of the best self park areas in town.TTYL.

Thanks for the report Bob ...it sounds like you had a lot of variety in your dining, from Wolfgang's to Fatburger. I had to laugh at your comments about the price of bottled water ....last trip at Gold Coast, if I ordered an alcoholic drink, it was there in 5 minutes but if I ordered water, I never saw the cocktail waitress again<g>. Sorry to hear it wasn't a winning trip!

Daisy,
Your right about the water. It's strange but there must be reason for it? Maybe someone here can educate us as to why you can get a cocktail easier than a bottle of water? Yes my dining runs the whole gamut.I like food all food.So when I go I set time for good, better and best places to eat.I like to try them all.It breaks up the trip a little when you take time to dine and enjoy it.IMHO.TTYL.
