Treasure Island Caribbean Suites?
  Treasure Island Caribbean Suites?
Will travel to LV with family in November, and have reserved two Caribbean Suites for the winter special rate of $98. The photos on the website make them sound and look good. I
would like to hear reviews of them from those of you who may have stayed there. Would like to know best view to ask for, best located suites, best restaurants, and other suggestions. Want to see Mystere based on the fantastic reviews of others.

Thanks for the
help!

Hi Scott: Dick Marley from this BB is at T.I right now and had mentioned he had a Petite Suite booked. If no one else posts, maybe when Dick gets back, he will write a review.

V and Scott, I think Dick said the Italian restaurant was great there also. Was it Francescos?

Scott, I would ask for a strip view. It's great to go to your room at night and stand at the window looking up and down the strip.
There are some TI experts here that can help with the restaurant. Do try to see Mystere. Since you are staying at the TI you can make your reservations well in advance.
Call 1-800-392-1999 and ask them how far in advance you can book the show since you are staying at TI. I think it might be 90 days.
Good luck and have fun.

John,

Didn't you almost get arrested the last time you were standing in your motel window overlooking the strip?

Veronica, I'm back from LV and have just posted my trip report under the topic of
Laughlin-Las Vegas under the TRIP REPORT
heading.

As for the restaurants in Treasure Island,
I have visited four: Lookout Cafe, Buffet,
Francesco's, and the Black Spot Grill. All of
them are good in my opinion. Lookout is a
nice cafe where you can get in and out in a
reasonable time. The buffet isn't anything
to shout about, but offers good fare at a
decent price. The Black Spot offers different pastas and you can watch the passing parade of tourists as you dine.
They also serve an excellent Taramisu.
Francesco's is an italian themed up-scale
restaurant, where the food is wonderful, and
the service is excellent. I was there with a
large group in April (26 people) and one waiter and one assistant took excellent care
of the entire group. A bit higher in price.

Dick, You had a group of 26 people at Francescos. So, do you think this would be a good place for a TV meet?

We just stayed 3 days in one of the Caribbean suites. It had just been renovated the week before we checked in. It was an extremely nice room. We had a package rate of $74. The suites are directly off the central junction of the three corridors (TI is a Y-shape hotel.) very near the elevators. The entrance is double French doors. This leads to a small foyer with a bathroom on each side. The left side bathroom had a very deep but relatively small in area whirpool tub. The right side had a relatively large shower stall with shelf seating. Basic plain shower head. Both bathrooms had large closets, a single sink with shaving mirror, and a toilet. Our bathrooms were a beigish brown. One of the closets had a safe. The new type that you punch in the combination to close and open. (no credit card). The main room had a sofa, king bed, glass coffee table and armoire with TV set, a small desk and chair on the window side of the bed and a nightstand on the farside of the bed. One window full height but only about 3 feet wide in the corner of the room. It was a really nice room. I would rate it on a par with the Palace tower suites at Caesars but somewhat smaller in area.

Eric, as I was reading your description of the room the first thing that came to mind was the petite suites at Caesars. If the room is comparible, then it is a nice room.

Eric, it was nice to finally meet you and Ellen in Vegas, after all these years. Sorry that you arrived a little late. I hope you are planning a full trip report.

Scott, you mentioned you were taking the 'family'. Just a word of caution. Depending on where you are from (I'm from mid-west...3hr time difference). We tend to stay on our time schedule, but 3 hrs later. If you have kids that go to bed early (by 9 or 10), be prepared to have them awakened by the sound of battle ships.........if you have a 'strip view' room. Scared the bejesies out of us! Other than that had a great stay in a regular room at TI.

We like the buffet (limited selection, but good) and the black spot grill.

By NO means....DO NOT miss Mystere! Get their when doors open. Do not wait until 10-15 min prior to show. Don't want to give it away, but you will understand why.

Thanks to all for the help! I am looking forward to the trip. Got reservations for Mystere yesterday. As far as the sound from the pirate battle, is there a strip view maybe on the other side, which doesn't include the noise?? If so, what exactly should I ask for?

Thanks again!

I would talk to them when you make your reservations. I'm not really sure what type of view (besides the mountains) you get on the backside of the hotel. Personally, I prefer the mountain view. Keep in mind the curviture of the hotel, depending on the room, you don't get to see much.

Have a great trip!
