Okay here goes.We decided to catch a limo to the airport. They picked my sister and her husband up, and were at our place by 5:10 a.m. We were going out of Buffalo with a plane change in Baltimore.Couldn't figure out why it was going to take us so long to get to Vegas(2:00p.m. Vegas time)found out about a stop they kept secret from us, in Chicago. From the time I left my house, it was 12 hours before I reached my hotel. It was a very long trip.
We flew Southwest Air, and had no complaints about the service.
Caught the shuttle right outside the baggage claim and we were at the Gold Coast in 10 minutes.
Check-in was a breeze. We got in on the L A Times deal for $29.00 per weeknight with free buffet breakfast for each day, and 2 for one tickets to see Honkey Tonk Angels at the Gold Coast. Can't beat that deal.
My Sister and I headed for the washroom from the check-in desk, and while our hubbies were waiting for us, my Brother-in-law put $1.00 in a nickel poker machine, and hit a Royal Flush for $200.00.We weren't there 10 minutes.
Within the hour my Sister headed back to the same bank of Game King machines, played quarter Triple double bonus poker, and hit 4 aces with a deuce for $500.00.
We were getting hungry, so we went to the Monterey Room for their $8.95 steak special. It was good, and the service was quick, and that's what we were looking for after such a long trip.
We were able to get into our rooms after we ate, and I was really impressed. Carpets, bedspreads, curtains, paint and wallpaper were all new. I was happy with the room. I was kinda wondering what we were going to get for $29.00. It had an ironing board and iron(not that I intended to use it), and a hairblower. The shower had a neat little window that you could open to let the steam out.
We went down and gambled some more, but nobody else won anything to speak of the first night.
The second day, we went for the breakfast buffet,It was pretty good, especially being free.
We played the poker machines abit, then my Sister and I went out to the pool.I really liked the pool too. It had a hot tub, and a long gazebo effect if you wanted to get out of the sun. They also had an exercise room out there. You needed to use your room key to get in. It was all new and clean. I was impressed. We only stayed out about an hour and went to get cleaned up for a day of gambling. we decided to go downtown, we had to drop my brother-in-law off at Daves'Bar at the California so he could try to win his yearly Royal Flush on "His" machine at the bar. My husband stayed there to watch sports. He's had no luck at anything so far. My Sister and I were headed over to Main Street Station to try out Lees' Treasure Chest Machines at the bar.
We had a ball. My sister decided that we should have a Hurricane made "HER" way. Then one made the bartenders way. Then there was a couple we met at the bar from Wisconsin. They thought we should try a Carribean Cosmo. So we did. This poor bartenders' name was Ray, but forever more will be known to us as Kelly. My Sister didn't handle her Cosmic Carribean Hurricanes very well, and insisted on calling him Kelly all day. He answered to that name. I asked him about Lee, and unless I could tell him what he drank, he couldn't help me. I told him about those caffeine vodka things you were drinking Lee,and he knew what I was talking about, but it didn't help. I didn't think that was your regular drink of choice, and said you probably weren't drinking them at that particular bar.Anyway Lee, the next time you go to MSS will you please look for Ray at the bar and tell him the Sisters that were drinking Carribean Cosmos and Hurricanes say Hey!
We didn't tell him our names, since he goes by what you drink. You have to call him Kelly though.
Anyway, thanks to Lee, I cashed out $200.00 from the Treasure Chest Poker and another $14.00 in scratch tickets from my fours of a kind. Thanks Lee.
We ate at the Fremont Paradise Buffet that evening thinking it was the seafood night. We got the wrong night, but ate there anyway. It was good and lots of crab and lobster, but not the giant Lobster claws the size of steak fillets that we were looking to get like the last time we went to their Seafood Buffet.
I played the Treasure Chest machines at the Fremont after dinner and cashed out another $200.00. We caught a cab back to the Gold Coast, and we were tired, but forced ourselves to gamble some more. My sister hit a Royal Flush on a triple double bonus poker .25 cent for $1000.00.
It was so quiet. No bells or whistles. No having to wait for the attendant. just cash out and collect your ticket. Gotta love those tickets. She went to bed, and I wasn't far behind her.
The next morning we decided to try out the pool at the Orleans, so we went there for their breakfast buffet. It was excellent. After breakfast we gambled abit before we went to the pool. Didn't my Sister hit another Royal on a .25 Shock Wave for $1000.00. She has to buy dinner 2 nights now, Thats the rule if any of us hit a $1000.00 or more we have to treat the group to dinner.
We went to the pool at the Orleans. If you are a Gold Coast guest, you just have to show your room key, although no one one checking when we went. It was a really nice pool, but I really liked the one at the Gold Coast. It was smaller and more intimate.Mind you, if it was full of screaming kids, I might change my mind, but it was nice and quiet when we were there.
We went to see Honkey Tonk Angels with our 2 for one deal we got with the room. We really liked it, and we're really not Country Western fans. Reba really looked like Reba and all the girls did great jobs with their imitations. If you're into country, I would imagine you'd love it.My Sister treated us to dinner at Arriva. Its Italian with a nice atmosphere. The food was good and the service was great too.
Okay, I'm going to try and send this now. keep your fingers crossed, and I'll finish up tomorrow or the next day.
