Daisy,

I notice that you are taking more naps than usual. Taking two youngsters to LV has to be more tiring than taking toddlers to Disney World. At least they are old enough to do some things on their own. We would love to take our niece to LV, but she is no teenager

The package arrived Saturday.

I sure hope your pics turn out at the wax museum better than ours did. The problem? Those statues have such a dark, tan like coloring on their faces that we looked sickly/ghostly standing next to them. I would suggest anyone that wants a decent picture from that museum to either tan heavily before the trip or wear lots of makeup!

Daisy,

It's been a while since I've traveled to Vegas with anyone new. That always makes an interesting trip.
Any dives on the agenda this trip or are those just when you're solo?
Anxious for part 2!

What naps, Fred? I didn't get a nap until Thursday. frown The boys had lots of energy when we got to town; they had slept through most of the drive, with occasional awakenings to eat and drink<g>.

Larry & Itch, we took lots of pictures this time (176, to be exact) ...a little editing along the way and lots of work ahead! I won't be sure until I actually start printing them, but we were scanning stuff along the way, and I think we got some good shots at Madame Tussaud's.

Senator ...my first 2 trips to Vegas were mainly work, but this one really reminded me of my first pleasure jaunt back in 1990 ...I felt a lot like a kid in a candy store on that one too. LOL, no dives on this trip unless you count the time Wendell, Maxine and I checked out the Loose Caboose. smile

There will definitely be a nap before I get the rest of the TR up ... just jottng down notes cut in my nap time<g>. I will add a few notes to expand on the first part I wrote up rapidly the first time the guys were hanging out at the pool.

Before we left, I spent $7.20 to get a load of Billhere coupons, and I'll have to total of the savings on those ...as an example, we used them at Gameworks, to get $80 worth of play for $40. This coupon is also available in ShowBiz magazine. The boys (who call themselves the Deuces Wild<g>) still have credit left on their cards, but it's good for 2 years. They got about 3 hours of play in ...then relaxed shooting pool on the lower level.

I really recommend the MacKing show ...I sent the boys in alone to that one; gave them the camera to get some pics, and they took exactly one photo ... of the stage before the show started<g>. They said they were too busy laughing to take any DURING the show.

At Caesars, the adventure rides we did were downstairs (close to the Forum entrance by the Mirage) ...none of them as good as the one by the Cheesecake Factory IMHO, but we did the sixpack ride ($25 with coupon), and it was a good set-up where you just stay in the same seat for all 6 rides, which take about a half hour. The Deuces enjoyed the aquarium in the Forum and even thought the light show was kewl.

LOL, the best value was definitely the freebie to the Auto Collection ... I sent them in ahead of me while I smoked a cigarette (and SAT & RESTED on a bench<g>), and they had already shot 25 pics by the time I caught up with them 10 minutes later. We had fun with camera in here; I have a couple shots of them kneeling (begging/wishing/praying) in front of a couple of those hot rods<g>.

The only other thing I left out was watching the techs totally dismantle the PaddleWheel quarter progressive VP machines (and Gator Bucks) over at the Orleans ...they carted them out late Tuesday night, so I assumed they would be replaced with some new attraction, but they only worked on them because they were back in place the next morning. It was interesting to watch them tear the machines apart, and the next day I saw the quarter progressive was over $1700 ...I'd never seen it over $15XX before.

Well ...time for that nap ...will get the rest of the report up as time permits. smile

I rousted the Deuces out early Wednesday morning, to roast Wendell in the Orleans hot tub eek ...and we all had a good laugh and some fun before Aunt Daisy left the men folk relaxing in the hot tub while she went out and hit Aces again. smile We headed over to the Palms for breakfast. I like this buffet because it offers some unusual items, like my first taste of potato knish , which wasn

We were up early Thursday, to pick up Maxine and Wendell for breakfast at the Gold Coast, the best buffet meal of the trip IMO (thanks, Wendell!). After breakfast, we all piled back in the General Lee for a trip out to Valley of Fire. We made a brief stop at the fireworks store (ie, they were out of Aunt Daisy

I need to go take a nap! You're exhausting me.

Sounds like the quads are coming around just about enough to keep you afloat.

Keep up the good work. Enjoying the report.

Jeff, I'm ROTFLMAO this morning ...usually, I keep track of my expenses & categories, which was impossible on this trip ...BUT I did figure out the total this morning, and this 6 day trip with the boys came in $50 less than my last 5 day trip with my mom<g>. The gambling gods were indeed smiling on me. smile

I should be able to finish the TR tonight.

Daisy -

I'm EXHAUSTED reading this TR! You certainly covered a lot of ground with the Deuces Wild! Sounds like a fun trip - you had a lot of luck with ACES - good for you! I was interested in the Deuces' reaction to the Manhattan Express compared to the Desperado. I've always considered driving to Primm just to ride it but haven't yet. Maybe I won't and just ride the Manhattan Express again.

Forgive me but what does ROTFLMAO mean?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike, the Deuces enjoyed the Desperado, but they just didn't have the same excited look on their faces as when they got off the Manhatten Express ....and they both rode Speed about 10 times over at Sahara. They loved the acceleration and almost vertical aspect of the loop on Speed.

I left out a couple of things<g>. We stayed the last night at the Crowne Plaza ... got an early check-in about noon on Friday and a nice suite with a small living room, small kitchen area (sink, coffemaker & fridge) and a separate bedroom with 2 double beds. There were TVs and desks in both room ...a rather nice non-gaming hotel option. We only stayed long enough to toss our bags in the room before heading over to the Hard Rock where Daisy enjoyed a MultiPlay VP slot while the guys spent an hour in the shops.

The Crowne Plaza was the ONLY hotel on the trip where the maid (or someone else) didn't leave the alarm clock on ... I caught this 3 times out of 4 but got awakened at 4:30 am by mariachi music in Bakersfield. frown

Oh, those alarm clocks in the rooms! eek I have a post-it-note written to myself that I put on the top of all my paperwork that says "Check Alarm Clock". One of the first things I do is make sure the volume is turned all the way down and the alarm is definately OFF. Learned the hard way some years ago! Another tip, when I am traveling with my own alarm clock, is to set it for noon or so in case I forget to check the settings or it gets turned on by accident.

So far we've yet to stay anywhere where the alarm clock caught us by suprise..except at home, settings were changed by the sneaky hands of a 5yr old!

Thanks for your report Daisy, enjoyed it as always.

Now i know why your poll was so hard to figure... we didn't know about The Deuces before hand. You'd be a good poker player, you have an instinct for check-raising lol!

I wanted to ask you, when you say the pool and hot tub are open 24 hrs., do you mean just the hot tub, or the pool also.

I get to travel a lot for work, so I usually check the alarms, but it did slip by that one morning ... and it wasn't C&W ...I like mariachi too, but I'm not fond of much of anything at 4:30 am. frown

The regular pool hours at Orleans are 10am-7pm, but they yank the lifeguards after 7 pm ... you have 24 hour access to both pool and hot tub at your own risk, as long as one member of the party is at least 18 years old.

Daisy,

Thanks for the trip report. Reading it makes those of us living east of the Mississippi wish we lived closer to LV. Taking newcomers to LV is always a great experience. We have done it several times and it is very rewarding. Our experience has been that the younger the newbies the faster they tire out. Hopefully we will be escorting our daughter and s-i-l to LV in March for their first trip. We told them that Mom and I are slowing down and they had better join us for a trip while we can still maneuver. See you in November if Southeast airlines keeps flying.

I re-read your trip report Daisy and I have to say, all the talk about the Monte Cristo, that will probably be my first meal in Vegas. Curiosity kills..LOL I have only one question..whats with the powdered sugar? Sounds odd...huh, this coming from someone as a child who ate cracker sandwiches, no not something on crackers, I mean crackers between bread..hahaha.

Jen.. (who strangely finds herself talking about food..guess its time to break down and have dinner!)
