   AC Trip Report
Hello everyone,

I'm new to the site, so I hope I'm submitting this report correctly.

Atlantic City Trip Report, June 30 -July 3.

I've been going to AC one or twice a year for 4 or 5 years. It's not even close to being as great as Vegas, but will do if you can't get there.

I got a Taj Mahal Card on my first visit there and now I get offers for discounted rooms and meals all the time. For poker players, Taj will also offer poker room rates that the Taj Card Desk can not.

I'm a low roller, $5 - $10 craps, $1-$5 7card stud, nickel slots. But Taj has great costumer service and keeps me coming back. 2 nights free and the third night for $39. I tried the Taj Poker Snack Bar for the first time. It is not advertised, but to get to it you need to ride the elevator behind the poker desk. It looks like your avg. fast food joint, but the food is great! A hot dog was $2, but they grill it specially and that makes a world of difference. The service was a little slow, so I very politely asked if my order had been lost. I was, so they gave me a free piece of pie. In casinos, as in life, the nicer you are the more you get in return. I can't remember how many comps I've got for just being nice and asking, "Have I earned a comp?" If you say, "Where's my comp?", you have no chance. Anyway, the second time I went to the snack bar, I got the cheese burger. It was $3.50, but I had a $5 comp from the poker room, so free meal. It was so big, I could hardly finish. Very fresh too.

Played $10 craps at Resorts Casino for about an hour and got 2 buffet comps. Very good breakfast buffet. It was my first time playing there. I've noticed, in general, if you are first time player at any casino, play for an hour and you will earn a buffet comp 99% of the time.

Showboat, owned by Harrah's, always had a $5 craps table, but comps were more difficult to get. Taj only had $5 tables before noon.

Taj was offering a promotion for new players club members. Play slots for 30 minutes and get two free buffet comps. My friends were new members so that was a big $ saver.

AC has a reputation for bad customer service. I think they are finally getting the hint. 90% of the dealers and promotion people were very friendly.

Spend some time on the board walk. The Irish Pub, yes that is the actual name of the restaurant, has $1 drafts. It's on the next side street down from Resorts. Good meals from $5 too. Walked down to Trump Plaza. They just opened a bar right on the beach. Good happy hour after 3 or 4PM and no cover charge. If you want to lay on the beach at Trump Plaza, lounge chairs are $7.50, but free if you are staying at any Trump property.

Got tired of walking so took the Jity, AC local shuttle, back to Taj. It's $1.50 one way from one end or the board walk to the other.

Great trip overall. Brought $600 and came home with $625!

PS: Max Rubin's and Jean Scott's suggestions for Vegas comps work in AC too.

Ryan,
Welcome to talkvegas!
You submitted a trip report perfectly, and was a very nice read too! Going home with more then you started with is always a fun trip! smile
To be honest, most of our reports about AC are day trips or just one nighters. Nice to hear from someone that stays and enjoys more of what AC has to offer. Very interesting report, Thank you for posting!

Thanks for the report, Ryan ... I keep thinking about checking out AC, but I'd have to fly right over Las Vegas on my way<g>. I'm also a low stakes gambler, so it's nice to know that comps are available in my price range. smile

Ryan - Interesting TR. I've never been to AC but I'll make it there someday. As someone who has been going there for quite some time, what hotels would you recommend for a "first timer?" I mostly play video poker. Welcome to TalkVegas! --Mike
