   Does this count??
   Does this count??
We hadn't been out in the RV for quite a while, so we packed up the dogs, a bag of salad, and some quarters and headed for the Silverton RV park......which is now the Silverton KOA. It's a nice park, with full hookups, including phone, to each site. We also hadn't been to the Silverton Casino for about a year. It has really changed. Lots of full pay poker machines, nickel, quarter and dollar that I saw. They have new restaurants, too. The buffet is the same, which is okay. They have a neat new coffee shop, and a steak house, along with their deli. We liked the coffee shop, enjoyed the buffet because, amazingly, we ran into some friends, and just checked the menu at the Steak House.
It rained like crazy, but we had a great time. It was a good spot to go to get away from the "normal" places. It was fun to watch the news from the other end of town, and we even had Keno on the tv in the motor home.

On my recent trip, I liked what they are doing also at Silverton. I think they are really making an effort to spruce the place up and go out for the business.
I would however just one time have a dealing with the slot clud that didn't take a half hour.

Some friends ate at their steakhouse a few weeks ago and said they had a great meal.

We really like the Silverton. They always had a $1 Blackjack table when we went there. If it was full, just waited a few minutes for someone to leave. The cocktail waitress even brought me a drink when I was waiting. There is also one "stand up" position on the table that you can play until someone leaves.
Tater is right, there are lots of full pay VP machines there. Also many in nickel denomination.
There are coupons for Silverton in the LV Advisor coupon book. 1. Buy One Get One Buffet, 2. Free scoop of ice cream, 3. 50 coin bonus, 4. Stay One Get One Night. There were similar coupons given to us from the slot club.
I like the local casinos that have the parking lots right outside the door, like the Silverton and the Stations, although a garage is nice during the high sun times of day.

Lee, you would have enjoyed going to the slot club when we did......noone in front of us, took about 30 seconds to get our replacement cards!
Senator, that's good to know about the steakhouse.....we'll have to try it next time.
Itch4, we always liked it, too, but they used to have a big room, like a warehouse, where they had shows and "fine dining". It was pretty ugly. Now it looks like a theatre, with a marqee, down by the deli, plus the really nice new coffee shop, and the steak house maybe where the coffee shop was.........my mind is faddddddiiiiiiing..... smile We didn't play any table games this time, but they looked pretty popular, so I'm guessing they were rather lower stakes.
The RV park was full, as was the Oasis park across the interstate, but not many kids, so I guess it wasn't family vacationers there.... cool

Hmmmmm ....FPVP in nickels? It looks like I'll have to check the place out. I wonder if they've remodeled the rooms since the Senator stayed there; his squishy report kinda killed my curiosity a while back<g>.

Daisy, I would not have a problem staying at Silverton for a day or two. But the Senators room report has always killed the idea of me trying the place. YOU FIRST! LOL

The Senator will just have to go back, check in, and update his room report.

Daisy,

Just a slight correction. The carpeting wasn't 'squishy', it was 'slimey'! eek

Senator, sounds like your describing my experience at IP. Did you notice if they were racing cock roaches in the hallway??

No Cock-a-roaches. I took off my shoes shortly after checking in and the carpeting was kind of wet and slick (slimey). Luckily, I was only staying about 10 hours.

To be fair, I should add that this was back before the change to Silverton. Also, I've always liked their casino and found the restaurants to be good.

Jeff,
"To be fair, I should add that this was back before the change to Silverton."
That's why I said you should recheck the rooms, and give us a new report. wink

Larry, my rooms are already booked for September, but I'm planning on stopping by Silverton on that trip ...maybe I'll build up some brownie points toward a room offer for November? I'm willing to risk one night there, gambling that the rooms have also been remodeled. smile

Daisy,
Take your flip-flops......just in case!!! smile (By the way, Toby Tater thinks I'm nuts, but I am never barefooted in a hotel room......he calls me Howard Hughes!!! I'll have to show him the report about the slimy carpet at the Silverton)

LOL, if I feel I need flip-flops, I'm outta there! I don't require a fancy room<vbg>, but "clean" is on my list. smile

Clean & Safe, those are the only 2 real requirments of any hotel room. Don't get me wrong...I love the little extras, but basic requirments for me to stay are clean & safe.

I'm with you! No bare feet for me in ANY hotel room.
