Daisy - I LOVE hearing about your naps and losses! But thanks for this TR anyway! I loved your description of the bag and tag checkers at the airport as "Dragon Ladies!"

I'm hoping to see the Casino MonteLago the next time I'm in Vegas - which will hopefully be during Thanksgiving! --Mike

Daisy,

Thanks for the trip report. Glad to hear that you think Sam's Town is worthwhile to visit. We haven't spent much time there in recent visits but it sounds like we are the ones missing out on some decent VP and food. We always liked the place but it was just too far from the main activities.

You mentioned two new places in your report that sound interesting. Others have commented on how nice they are.

Take care and hope to see you in November.

Daisy,

Thanks for the pleasant TR, Daisy. It filled the bill as a pick-me-up for you and that was apparent in the subjects you reported on. I wish you could have hit at least one good one though. But as you say not standing in line is priceless and so are naps. How is it that you always get the good cars at the rental places? Whenever I get to pick my own, it

Thanks for the report Daisy!

Sorry the Gambling Gods weren't smiling more on you.

How long were you in Laughlin? Where did you stay?

Was teh $1.00 phone charge at Sam's something they offered at check-in or is it automatic?

I've checked National on my last couple trips and they're never competitive on price.

Daisy: Still sounds like fun to me - we were only in Vegas long enough to change planes - but we enjoyed our visit to California - see ya in November, bon appetite. (P.S. We only had l day in Frisco, but viewed your beloved Candlestick - from a distance) eek Wendell

If you're taking votes, I like the Escapades better.

Mike, it's so nice to hear you like reading about my losses<g> ....add 3 football bets to the list. frown Oops, add in two more parlays too!
I sure hope we can discuss some wins in Nov. smile

Fred, I drove by several interesting places<g>, but I was just too tired to go snooping. Maybe you & Beth can help me in November? I always enjoy Sam's Town; I even figured out a way to exercise there ...put those long hallways to good use<g>.

Bob, I just try to pick a car I haven't driven before<g> ...but I'm also getting wiser as I get older ...I head out to the intermediate aisle to snoop through the choices BEFORE I go in to do the rental paperwork. If there's nothing that appeals to me, then I give it another try after the paperwork. As for the gambling, my biggest win came from smooching a frog down in Laughlin; I never could get ahead at VP. frown I hope you're going to be a Wendell's meet!

Senator, thanks for reminding me about a couple of things I left out<g>. We spent two nights down in Laughlin at the Flamingo. We kept busy rambling between the Colorado Belle, Edgewater, Riverside and Harrah's, but it still seemed like one night too many for both of us.

LOL, the $1.00 charge at Sam's is automatic ... and I wish you could have heard the guy holding up the check-in line arguing about it! The rest of us were starting to mumble about taking up a collection for him<g>.

I've never priced National, but I do play games with Alamo ...their prices start out ridiculous, then they figure out they aren't renting cars and they lower the price about 2-4 weeks before the date. I like the speed of the pick-up, and I also like the location that allows me to miss the airport congestion.

Wendell, if you keep referring to San Francisco as "Frisco" ...I will keep referring to the Raiders as the "49er Geriatrics." laugh BTW, I've already started my diet so I'll be REALLY hungry in November. :p

JMT, move to California ... you can vote on almost anything here<vbg>. I loved the guy that held up a "Garcia for Governor" sign during the 49er game. smile I'm sorry about the lack of Escapades, but I was just too tired to make any of my usual explorations, and I napped rather than writing notes or typing up daily reports. I'll try to do better in November.
Larry, since you like hearing about my WINS ... I did win one of my free football bets from my Sam's Town offer, and I did hit a progressive Wild Royal at the Reno Peppermill, but $50 wasn't enough to put me into the win column for the trip<g>. As for the naps, this was definitely the first time I drove directly to my hotel, checked in and went upstairs for a nap before even testing the waters downstairs. I think I need to tell my scheduler that I'm getting too darn old for 12-hour days at work. frown

Jim, there are 12-hour days ...and 12-hour days when I need rollerskates & a combat helmet<g>. Unfortunately, I was working the latter type right before my trip. frown This week should be easy; only 10-hr days up on the northern coast ... and I'm all rested up from Las Vegas. smile

Daisy - If you're working 12 hour days, I'm hoping they give you 3 or 4 day weekends to compensate. --Mike

5:30 pm sounds good, Wendell ...that way I can watch the end of the Monday night football game afterward. After all, the way my luck has been going, I sure don't want to do much gambling<g>.
