First of all, you have to understand that I am a tightwad, and will not waste my money on some fancy mega-resort that I am only going to use to sleep five hours a night.

So, I will take the places that are priced low (but decent quality), are easy to get free comps, and must have good, full-pay VP, and low minimum Blackjack.

That results in places like Gold Coast, Sam's Town, and places downtown like Four Queens, Main Street Station, Las Vegas Club, and Lady Luck.

Buddha,
Nothing wrong with making the rounds of the budget lodging in Las vegas! I don't need all the trimmings in a hotel either, however....my wife feels SHE DOES! LOL
Some of the properties you mentioned are also some of my favorites to gamble in too. Out of your list though, I've only stayed at MSS, as I will again this trip!

Buddha, All the places you listed are decent. I like MSS but have not found them to be good with comps. Caesars comps my room and food. MSS refused me a comp to the Brewpub for an appetizer and beer during happy hour. I have yet to figure that one out.

John, maybe MSS figures you'll drink on your own, and Caesar wants to be sure you eat and sleep?

John,
I find that so hard to beleive...I mean, you say it, so it must be true, but, I have had no problems at MSS with comps, and I don't go to any one host in particular either. Who ever is on duty, works fine for me. I know your a bigger beter then I am, because no casino ever sent a limo for me at the airport <VBG>. Just seems real strange. Maybe I've just been exceptionaly lucky with there comp system?

John,
Comps are a funny thing, and it's sometimes difficult to understand the value placed on a particular comp by the casino or a host. A buffet lunch at the MSS should only need a couple thousand points, since they probably figure that all that food is just laying there, anyway. But an appetizer (which might cost as much as an entire buffet), and a couple beers might eat more directly into their profit margin.
I remember one year we were at the Imperial Palace, and we had earned a couple buffet dinners. However, we did not have time to wait for the dinner shift to open, because we had to leave shortly for the airport. So ... I asked to use the comp at the Burger Palace instead, just to get a bite to eat before leaving for the airport, and was turned down! Go figure ...........

Good point Buddah, I think it might also have a little something to do with WHERE you select to eat at a given establishment. A major hotel/casino resort might have a Hotel, casino, coffee shop, show room, buffet and a few bars. They might also lease out space for an Italian restaurant, steak house, burger joint and/or lounge. Theses third party places might be harder to comp for several reasons.

Lee and Daisy, It was before a meet a year ago that MSS refused the comp. I usually do not play Let it Ride. But I got to MSS at noon and the meet was at 4pm, so I had a lot of time to kill. All the good bartop vp was full, so I went to the LIR table and was playing $5 on each of the 3 bets. The pit critter came over and insisted I give him my card and fill out this form to be rated. So I figured what the heck, I'll do it. I won some hands and ended up playing close to 4 hours. When it was time to go to the meet at the Brewpub I asked the same pit critter for a comp for the shrimp appetizer ($2.95) and a beer ($2.00 I think). He just looked at me like I was nuts and said he couldn't do it. I asked him why he asked me to sign up to be rated if I wasn't going to qualify for even low level comps and he just walked away.
I have no idea what was the problem. I remember when the Senator had to wheel and deal to get a meal comp at MSS. It was like pulling teeth for him.

Buddha and Joe, you may be on to something. I can't figure MSS out. It may have to do with who is making the money on the food and drinks at the restaurant. But I think the Brewpub is owned by MSS. I could be wrong on that.

Still love the Orleans - with 20 minute shuttles to and from the Gold Coast/Strip makes it really convenient and yet away from
the hustle and bustle of the crowds. Was there last month and it still looks and feels
new. They have re-done the buffet (to resemble the RIO) WITH different nationalities to choose from (with an added
island for Mongolian BBQ. At least one pool was heated (along with the hot tub of-course). Also hit a dollar machine for several hundred which definately added to the
visit. They always seem to have "top of the line" entertainment. The Smothers Bros and
the Rightous Bros are a definate plus. Anyway, more bang for the buck at the Orleans. Best Regards: Wendell

While in LV for Super Bowl, decided to check out MSS. It had been rated pretty high on a consistent basis by Lodestones site.
Wife and I got seperate cards. Always sign up, it's free and u never know what happens.
Anyway, stayed for maybe 3/4 hour at most. I played DB for a while, maybe $400 through. The wife played maybe $200 through, got bored and went and play some $5 BJ.
Bottom line....We constantly each get identical 3 day offers. I always joke that I should have played for 4 hours, I could live their a month.

John,
I don't have an answer for you on that one. But, this trip they picked up the whole check for dinner at MSS Brew pub, including many beers! The room was also a comp, every thing but my phone call. They refused to take that off the bill. It was only a buck, so what the heck! LOL
Then the host asked me (they very rarely offer anything without being asked) if I'd like to eat at the Pulman grill that night after I had already checked out! I was shocked! As you know, I'm a steady quarter player, that will dip down to lowly nickles on the triple play games and when things are going well will step up to dollars too. But that's my range. I play $10 BJ but never more then an hour at a time.
I still don't see what or why they had a problem with your timid request for shrimp & a beer.

Lee, I can't figure it out either. Especially when they made such a big deal to see that I was going to be rated for my play.
One other thing. I went to the bar last Jan and played about 5 hours straight of $1 vp. I have never received an offer from them and I did have my card in the machine. I think if was last April when Jeff and I were trying to get a comp at the Pullman off of our slot club points and they told me "no way".

John,
What are you doing in side these casino's to P*ss them off?

Sometimes I think your the black hole of casino offers! On the bright side, Caesars seems to like & reconize your type of play!

Lee, LOL! "The black hole of casino offers"<G>
That's me alright.
You're right about Caesars being good to me. That's why I was so surprised when they treated me well. I was used to being abused<G>
