Activity # 1-

Flight from PHL to LAS was a long five+ hours but relatively smooth. It took about one hour to get our luggage and taxi to the Orleans. It was raining very hard at this time. At the registration counter we asked for a room with the following: non-smoking, king bed, new tower and near the elevator. We went to the room and found the following: a non-smoking room, two queen beds, the oldest tower and as far from the elevator as you can get. What a disappointment!!! We decided to stay the night in that room but would request a change first thing Monday morning.

Monday morning we went to the registration counter and were greeted by Ron. He looked at our present room and smiled when I told him of our requests upon first checking in. He then assigned us to a room on the 20th floor, non-smoking, new tower, king bed and halfway between the elevator and the end of the hall. In addition, he reserved a room on the same hall for my brother and sister-in-law who were to check in later in the morning.

When we got on the elevator to move our luggage and pushed the button for the 20th floor, the light would not remain lit. We discovered that you needed to insert the room key into a slot on the wall and then press the button for access to floor 20 and 21. As the week wore on we discovered that this procedure drew unwanted attention from other guests. A few times other passengers rode with us to the 20th floor and exited the elevator. Later in the week if someone was on the elevator with us, we exited at floor 19, got back on and went to floor 20. The room was gorgeous!

Activity # 2

Gary and Sally (my brother and s-i-l) arrived and we went to our room. Their room was not ready at this time so we took their luggage to our room. After having lunch at the Courtroom Caf

Fred,
We noticed the same thing downtown as well, lots of strollers from Wednesday on. Even in MSS, lots of kids coming for the buffet with parents that had no parenting skills.
I don't know where your going to go to get away from it?
Your braver then us, we don't do busses anymore. Shuttels are ok, but no busses in LV.
It was nice seeing you again, and I'm looking forward to dinner already!
Thanks for the great report...so, when is your next trip?

Jan,

We have seen the laser show several times and enjoy it very much. It does not last a long time but if you are in the vicinity of Sam's Town, I feel that it is worth seeing.

Thanks for teh report Fred. It was great seeing you and Beth again.

Sorry you didn't have better luck gambling.

Are the 20th,21st floor rooms, bigger and/or nicer than the lower floors? I've now stayed in all 3 towers. The rooms are pretty much identical, some just newer.

We left the Orleans Wednesday night mostly because of the kids. I didn't see any kids at the Palms.

Jeff,

I think the rooms are the same size, just newer and cleaner.

Great report, always wondered about bingo in Vegas. We go here occassionally but not for the big money like there.

Glad you had a good time with good friends, we will get to a meet someday.

Thanks for the report Fred. You certainly don't let the lack of a rental car keep you two tied down!

It was good seeing you and Beth .. wish I'd had more time, but this was a short trip. frown I'm definitely jealous of those Deuces; I only hit them once on my last night, but it wasn't for lack of trying<g>.

Did you try any of the Super Bonus DW machines? They stiff you on most of the 5-of-a-kinds, but they pay 800 coins for a 5K with only one deuce.

Fred & Beth: We really enjoyed the trip - the bingo - the meet - the thanksgiving dinner - and all of it! Sorry about the "daubber" mix-up, your daubber will be on me next trip (and when will that be??) The "locals" at bingo sure seemed friendly, more so than usual, guess we will have to partake of Samss Town bingo more often. Don't ask me how Maxine ended up with 2 cutting boards but she did - hope JMT enjoys his. Sorry there were no winners but the event was fun. And so was the lunch. Many thanks for the invite to your Thanksgiving Dinner shindig. The seating and location overlooking the Casino at the Orleans was terrific. Tell your brother and wife we really enjoyed meeting them and look forward to seeing them again on another trip. Will talk to you later and look forward to seeing you and Beth soon (on another trip)!!
