   Texas Station
Just received an offer for three free nights and would like to know if anyone has stayed there and if so what they thought of the place.

Caroline, I have not stayed there but I have been to the casino a number of times. It is away from the strip, but I think you may already know that. The casino is a typical locals casino with good vp and easy comps. If you like to get away from the strip and have some decent odds at the tables and on vp, Texas Station is pretty good. Also, the restaurants are reasonable and the food is pretty good and the prices are low. MAybe someone can comment on the rooms.

Caroline, one thing about rooms that I have done a number of times. Most places have mini-suites or suites that aren't much more than the standard room. Call the number on the offer and ask them what the cost would be to upgrade to a suite. Most of the time is isn't much more and those rooms are usually pretty nice.

Caroline,

Do not know whether you are aware that Texas Station is in North Las Vegas away from the strip. Never stayed there, but did enjoy gambling at the casino on several visits. If I were interested in staying in North Las Vegas, Texas Station would be my choice of hotels. If you plan to visit other casinos and sites in LV, you definitely would probably need a car when staying at Texas Station as shuttles do not run frequently and a taxi would be quite expensive.

If you don't mind the inconvenience of being away from much of the activity in LV, Texas Station would be fine. If you'd like to be around the strip area, then I'd suggest you select another hotel. IMO, the free rooms would not make up for money and time spent on transportation to and from other areas unless you were initially planning to rent a car.

Hope someone else can help with the type of rooms available.

Out of the 3 major hotel/casino's out that way, Texas Station would be the place to stay IMO. But I've never spent a night there.
I did however receive the same offer and i gave them zero play this last trip. So I suspect that they might have mailed out a great many of these offers.
I'd make a reservation soon, as not to be shut out on your perfured dates! If it's the exact same offer as mine, there is no mention of blackout dates for weekends, and these dates will go first!

Lee, You are correct about weekends,I called last night and made res. for 1/20 -1/24 Thurs-Sun. they are charging me $59.00 for Sun. I am not sure yet if we are going, but have the reservations if we decide to go. National has $278.00 R/T from JFK. Now if we can both get the vac. time -----------

Caroline, I just received the same offer and am thinking seriously about taking them up on it. If the rooms are clean, and from looking at the rest of the place I would assume that they are, thats what matters the most to me. As far as the proximity to the rest of the strip, I always get a car so that would not be a problem to me at all. I ate at the Mexican restaraunt and really enjoyed my meal. The service was very attentive which added to experience. I would say go for it and if you have any bad situations let me know, so I won't make the same mistake.

I have stayed at Texas Station twice and found the rooms to clean and readily accesible to the parking garage and street parking. Registration is also in the same corner. My only concern is that unlike Boulder and Sunset there is no nitetime security checking room keys. It is possible
to walk in off the street and get right on the elevator to the rooms. Nevertheless, my wife and I are taking advantage of the 3 free nights and staying there next week followed by 2 free nights at Boulder. We are going on frequent flier miles and all we need know is some free gambling money. We might change for the $59 Venetian rooms or the 1 free nite at Caesars for one paid $50 nite. That also comes with $50 dining credit.
Decisions, decisions.

Bill, If you haven't seen the rooms at the Venetian, they are very nice. The only negative is that the refrigerators are stocked and you must pay for anything you use from them. There is no room in them for you to put things you may want to keep cold. Therefore, the rooms basically have no refrigerator.
But, the rooms are very nice.
I'd take the Venetian and Caesars offer over the free rooms at Texas because of the locations of the properties and the quality of the Venetian and Caesars.

John: when all else fails do what I do cheat.

What ever kind of beer they have in the frig. I go to the local 7-11 and buy what I want and replace the cold ones I drink each morning before the maid comes in

Kizzy,
I'm told that the servi bars at the venetian automaticly track when you pull out any beverages and is applied to your bill.
It may be an old rumor, but I think I remember someone saying it was true on this BB.

My sources tell me there is Fatburger in Texas Station!!!

Lee, I can't picture those mini-bars with automatic billing working out well. Yes, I saw the system, although I didn't check it out closely. How would you dispute the bill if they told you 2 Cokes were "recorded as used" on the second night of your stay?

JMT,
I wouldn't have a clue where to start on the 2 cokes bill.
But I just got my Amex statement and the Flamingo double billed me for my stay in Nov.. I knew the girl didn't have a clue what she was doing. When I call Amex, they said it was all messed up and they'd file a discrepancy and ask for a full explanation.

Kizzy and Joe, I saw the setup in the Venetian refrigerator and was told that there is a sensor under each item. If you remove the item the sensor is triggered and you are billed. I don't know if that is true, we'll have to check withsome one who has stayed there.

Update on my post re: Texas Station security. They now have a card reader at the parking lot entrance to the hotel.

In addition, at Boulder where they do have a guard checking room keys, they also take your key and put it in a device to see if it is still valid. No more flashing an expired room card key.

Bill C,
That reader is a great idea for security, but I'll bet the hookers don't much care for it! LOL
