Ok, here is my little problem. Flamingo will only give me casino rate for 7 nights, the other 2 nights they want to soak me full fare for weekend nights. NO WAY. We have a short list of possible weekend stay places. Harrah's (prox to Flamingo) Paris (new hotel) Bally's (next to Paris) Golden Nugget (downtown class) We have done Main Street Station, and while very clean and standard room, we all are leaning toward something differnt. Any hints or suggestions on getting the best rate at the Nugget? I am not a rated player there, nor do we have a slot card for the joint. ------------------ Lee-PA Moderator, What's New Forum lee@talkvegas.com

Thanks for the tips so far, but I guess my problem needs more explanation. We need 2 rooms, My sister travels along with us on most Las Vegas trips. So a one room deal dosen't cut it when we need 2 rooms. Paris, while I play there, Sandy does not. I think Harrah's gives us the best over all shot, but me personally, I'd rather not stay there. Been there, done that, and thier is nothing to rave about the rooms, beleive me. ------------------ Lee-PA Moderator, What's New Forum lee@talkvegas.com

Lee, When I get into that sort of situation of needing a place to stay outside of my normal place, I usually start digging through my room offers, paying particular attention to places that I have never tried. And I like something that might have an optional suite upgrade. And while I usually spend beyond my anticipated $$$ for the room, I consider it a new experience.
So maybe mailed offers, LA Times listings or even on-line specials, might be the ticket. I realize that you travel on holidays, and that could be an obstacle. I also agree with Freds advice to check LVRS, but throw in a little excitement by staying someplace that you don't know that well. Most of the offers that I have right now don't likely extend into your travel dates, although I would think that would be a prime situation for LVRS.
You might consider The Orleans, Sams Town, Reserve, Stardust, someplace on the north side, or one of the Stations if you're on a budget. And if you're really a tightwad<g>, maybe Sahara. On the upper end, Mandalay Bay might have a good special come out. The New Frontier has had suite packages for about $60 for the last couple of years. It might be a good time to check out "last call" at the last Frontier.
I think you should do something completely different, something new, something creative...for the excitement of TalkVegas, and to spruce up that trip report.<g>

JMT, Once again you show great wisdom. Except, Frontier, Sahara, Stardust! Yikes! Sue would make my life h@ll! <S> Your right, we should try something new though. That's why I am against staying at MSS or Harrah's. It just gauls me to spend 200 a night for a room in Las vegas, so I guess we'll end up staying where ever we get a reasonable price from. ------------------ Lee-PA Moderator, What's New Forum lee@talkvegas.com

Daisy, I don't care for Sam's town. Iknow, I'm one of the few here that feels that way. Orleans might work out, I just hate being in the middle of no where and have to rely on transportation to get to the next casino if things turn unlucky. Jan, That offer misses my dates, but thanks for the reminder. ------------------ Lee-PA Moderator, What's New Forum lee@talkvegas.com
