Major improvements are under way to refurbish the Luxor's 2,467 pyramid rooms. Everything but the furniture and the showers will be replaced by the time the project is completed in 18 months Improvements include new carpet in each room and in walkways, along with lotus-print wallpapering in the hallways. Stainless-steel faucets and marble counter tops are being installed in bathrooms, which also will feature 1,400-watt hair dryers. New king-size mattresses will be placed in the rooms. The rooms will also get new window coverings.

This is the second major renovation of rooms by the Mandalay Resort Group. The casino company recently finished refurbishing the Excalibur's more than 4,000 rooms. Both projects are part of the company's plan to upgrade more than 15,000 rooms it owns on the Strip.
