After settling in at The Orleans with my 'strip view' room - actually I loved the view of the train line almost as much! Nice room - the little extra space with the settee makes for a different feeling than the IP room.
Wandered around the O a little bit, getting a feel for the place, then discussed with Kes our next move, as she had mentioned about the group gathering at Bootlegger later in the evening. We finally decided to take off in the car, and we went up I15 to visit Fremont St! After parking at The GN, stepping out onto Fremont was a thrill - this is the Vegas you remember from all the old pictures! Vegas Vic & Vickie and the rest of the famous signs, plus The Fremont Street Experience! Got to see two different shows, and I must say it was AWESOME! After gawking for a bit, we trotted over to Main Street Station for a nice burger while watching Monday Night Football! It was a really odd experience to see MNF at halftime...and it only being 7:30! Excellent burger, by the way...Afterward, going through the MSS Casino, it was mandatory for me to do my patriotic duty, and leave my mark, so to speak, on the piece of the Berlin Wall...*wink*..
Walking back to Fremont, we went through the California, and startling Kes, by noting the Hawaiian guests were eating saimin soup ...after one more Experience show, and wandering around Neonopolis for a bit, we realized it was time to head for the group meet at the Bootelegger!
It was great meeting all of those who showed up at the Bootlegger, and the place itself was great! Ordered dessert, and after seeing JMT's pile of great looking food, wished we had saved supper for here! As advertised, the 'karaoke' was amazing - better than most 'real' shows! The one guy did the most amazing Sinatra ever - and the others were good too! The only downer was the 'comedy' couple, who literally chased the crowd out of there!
After saying our goodbyes for the night, it was back to the Orleans for a well earned night of sleep!
