DAG,
Send me your email address so I can give you my cell #. I'm checking out of the Orleans the day you arrive. Maybe we can fit a quick cocktail in before your nap.

dag, since you are doing so much driving, you might want to check out the BBQ ribs at the Black Mountain Grill. I have never tried them, but I have enjoyed everything I have tried from the menu. I love the Pancetta-Wrapped Prawns. The 22 oz cowboy steak is great as long as you get the BBQ sauce on the side in a separate dish.
This place has a reputation as one of the finest pub and grubs in town. As long as you are driving all over town, it's not far away. The place is worthy at sticker price. Grab a discount certificate or coupon for better value. Go late night for about half price and limited menu.
i remember when tommy rockers was thee place to get ribs acording to this board, black mountain and southside grill are his places also.has been on the list for years but never seem to get there.the late nite food is dirt cheap.
DAG, I'm tired from just reading your pre trip report!
Maybe we could lure you away on monday night for the BlackJack lodge ribs. Think about it! I'm a light weight in the rib catagory, all you can eat is normally one order for me. But maybe if I had some insperation, a mentor along for the meal, a true rib expert as yourself???
ribs at blackjack it is,i'll oink and hooter later.it is the ducs that call me there.don't forget jmt is the rib expert and i am sure the blackjack is not his first but ayce babybacks are hard to beat for ten bucks and a couple a beers.

Blackjack is not baby backs, it's St Louis cuts. Nothing derogatory, just trying to keep the scorecard straight. The Blackjack is also a pretty good spot to watch Monday Night Football.
LOL, I could eat my one serving of ribs any night at the BlackJack, but that $9.95 on Monday is the draw for me - and I love the tender meat that just about falls off the bone.
You & I only have to stumble over from the Orleans, DAG, so I'm leaving the time up to Lee since he & Sharon have to come all the way from downtown<g>.
Daisy, you pick a time....we will be there. Just remember, kick-off on Monday night on the left coast is 5:30pm..... Heck, it could almost be called an afternoon game! lol
That all sounds good to me! We always can make room for more. Beleive me Kes, I worry about the same thing, too much planned! Even with a longer trip, I still end up planning too much. Schedules are for working people, and we are on Vacation! LOL
I'll do my best to be prompt, I will be there for dinner, but I have been known to take a ride out in the desert looking for the place, and Daisy is my witness! LOL

The Blackjack has gone through a lot of changes lately. I stopped in tonight just to check things out. The AYCE ribs are still on for Monday night treats. The current price is $11.95. There are plenty of flat screen TVs in case the game time and dining time overlap.

That's correct. They closed the Dam Restaurant. I'm not sure why. Dans is now crowded more often than not during prime times. Last time I was there, I was given one of those beeper coaster thingys, and had to wait about 30 minutes. By the time I got to eat, they were telling people it was a 90 minute wait.
I'm not pleased with the change, nor do I know the long term plans. It "appears" that old Dans menu (including the ribs) is only available during regular Dan hours. The other 18 hours reverts to a different menu(s). I suggest reservations if there are dinner plans.
we like to think that in some small way (when they leave thier fur on our cloths), we say...oh look we brought the cats with us! A sheet will not stop our cats. I have noticed they seem to be attracted by black pants, what is up with that????
we lost two of our cats from the bad pet food so it's not as bad as it used to be.all four cats would sleep in the luggage.even a good vacuum does not get rid of the cat hair it has become part of the luggage only to be released on black clothing<G>
