Veronica, while $125-$150 a night seems high, think of it this way. There is no gambling obligation. So, for $60-$75 per person you get your room and a free meal. Not real bad when you consider what you would spend on vp to get the room comped.

John: Paris was offering rooms for $39 in recent months, including the weeks before and after Easter. Even Easter Sunday was available at $39. This was not a slot club promo, but a rate available to anyone who called and booked it AND no gambling obligation.

So to me this latest Paris “promo” seems way out of line, especially because the selected dates are in July and August, typically when rates are traditionally lower, outside of the 4th of July holiday. There are no conventions that I see on the schedule that would drive the rates up like this. On the phone the lowest room rates for July were quoted at $79 weekdays/$99 weekends—and no gambling obligation here either. Those rates make this web site promo look even worse!

I’ve noticed that some of the highest rates are offered on a hotel’s web site, so it can pay to also make a phone call, or check here on Talk Vegas.

Oooooo, you know how I hate gambling just to get those room comps! I’d rather just jump around to the casinos where I like to gamble and see what offers are generated from doing that.

RE: New Paris rates vs $39 one - I talked to a reservation clerk last week and she told me I was VERY lucky to get the $39 rate a few months ago since they were getting 10,000 calls a day on it! Guess they WAY underestimated demand!

Circus Circus has a buy one night get one night free offer in the mail good from April 30 to June 29 (Sun-Thurs). Offer code Escape. Telephone # 800-344-5252.

Dave: Thanks for the info.

I cancelled my $39 Paris reservation to take advantage of a room offer elsewhere, and I doubt that cancellation was made available to the next caller to Paris! But that was a really great promo.

Looks like Paris is trying to make it up through their high web site rates.

Caesars- received today. "Your Room and Dining Package Awaits- starting at $59.00 per night- May 24 to July 31,2000."

Strange offer, as that's all it said. No information as to what the package includes.

Bill C,
I got the same strange offer today.
Why do I get the feeling there will be no rooms at $59 a night if I call? LOL

Bill and Lee, I received something like your offer last year. Basically they want you to call and then you can wheel and deal from there. At least that's what they wanted from the offer they sent me.
If you can get the Forum Tower for $59 a night that's pretty good. Even the Forum Tower would be ok at that rate. But I would not take a room in any other towers unless they have renovated them recently.

Gregg,

Would consider giving T.I. another try on our next trip if I knew they were giving credit for .25 vp. Any news yet on when this might happen. You stated .50 and above denominations.

Beth,
I'm not sure when Treasure Island is going to change their slot club. I love the place, but it is frustrating to think you can play nickles and quarters at Mirage and Bellagio and get credit for it, but not at Treasure Island. When I was there in November, they said they expected to change during January but it didn't happen. When I was there the first week of April, I was told it was going to change very soon, possibly by the end of April. I don't think it has changed yet, but it only makes sense for all the Mirage properties to have similar slot clubs. My offer specifically states double cash back on fifty cent and higher machines. We'll just have to watch and see what happens.

Gregg,
Just got back from LV (May 13), stayed at Treasure Island and they were NOT comping quarter players yet! I asked at the slot club about when they were going to switch over and got the "hopefully by the end of the month" reply. It seems really strange to me that the higher-end casinos (Mirage, Bellagio) have been switched over to quarter-level comping but not TI, which is supposedly the "mid-level" resort. How hard can it be??? I wonder what the rationale is.
