   pre trip report
   pre trip report
we had fun doing a pre report on my last trip so here we go again.this is going to be the "new knee"report well sorta new.i am 2 weeks post surgery and still a long way from going out dancing and if my trip was this week i would be canciling.so my trip is 2/17-2/21 that would be sun thru thurs and i will probably show up with a cane for a little knee support.flying alaska air as usual for 525.00 rt for two and thrifty compact for 90.00 week with a one class upgrade and an amex 25.00 gift card, fyi, that offer still on their web site, and checking in at the suncoast for sun-mon nites at a 75.00/55.00 rate and a tues-thurs at the orleans for 51.00/51.00 no real bargains on the rooms this trip.so here we go-on sunday arriving, car at thrifty, and off to rampart for sunday brunch, the day at the suncoast and dinner at makinos sushi buffet in sumerlin.monday i will do a santefe-fiesta-texas-palace station run with a dinner probabley at hooters for rib or prime and hit the deuces machines that are never there when i'm there(i think jmt has them taken out when i am in town)<G>tuesday i will do a sams gvr silverton/bass shops with dinner at the new restaurant at the point called primarily prime rib or at the oyster bar for king crab 15.00 bucks or both!sometime on tues i check in at the orleans.wednesday will probable stay close to the orleans with a happy hour at the silverton and will NOT be having dinner at the new twin creeks, which has gone up upscale,i can't see the locals buying into that move,so will do an upscale buffet at wynn.,mirage,or the bell and spend the evening on the strip and check out the new p-ho.well that should keep me busy for a few days and hopefully the knee will not turn into a pita.as usual those that are in town and want to join in any of the activities are more than welcome c u n a couple of weeks

I work Sun Mon Tues that week. Hopefully that cane will slow you down enough that I can catch up with you sometime on Wednesday.

Good Luck at Marino's. I've about given up on that one. I stop in for VP when I'm in the area. I've been eyeing the Primarily Prime Rib. I may give it a try for you to help you make your decision.

DAG,
Let us know how smooth your hotel exchange goes. We always seem to loose so much time in transfering, even if second room IS ready.
Ofcourse you know we won't be bumping into you at the Bass Pro shop this trip! LOL We're holding off till March this year.
Get that knee in working order ASAP! And don't forget to work the "recovery angle" when you check in to the hotels! Short walks to elevator, ice and soda machines, maybe a nice view because you don't know how often you'll be able to get out of the room. I'm sure you have that all figured out! wink

I don't want to ruin your vacation plans, but if you want to do Primarily Prime on Wed and meet at 1830, I'm game!

I'm waiting on Sharons mom to commit, so I haven't bought tickets yet. 6th to 11th seem our best shot for decent airfare from the east coast.

dag, Ballys buffet closes for good on Tuesday, Nevada Palace closes for good in less than 2 weeks. Are you going to grab a last taste of history?

isn't that the sterling buffet at ballys? i have never been in the nevada palace and probably will let history slip by on that one.it has been a long time since i have been in ballys there is nothing there that i care to see or do.so many places so little time,do they ever send you any offers?

Ballys has a Sunday Sterling Brunch that is still active.

Their regular buffet, known as the Big Kitchen Buffet is closing. It got that name as it was the first (or one of the first) major buffet to offer separate stations. I ate there once in the Prodigy daze and was impressed that it did not taste like steam table food. I never went back. I dislike their parking a great deal, and once I get inside, there's not a lot to keep my attention. I do have fond memories of the place from MANY years ago.

I'll let you know after tomorrow night, if he doesn't forget to show up...again.

FWIW, the weather isn't near as nice as we were hoping for. You know DAG, he will have a great time wherever he goes.

I saw DAG tonight. As you can imagine, he is having the time of his life. It was great to see Linda again too. We had a super mini-meet, ate too much quality prime rib, and it just doesn't get much better than that. He goes back tomorrow, so you can look forward to another one of his entertaining trip reports.
