   POST TRIP REPORT
to start with i am booked for april- 4/6-4/10 sun-thur.offer from the orleans at thirty bucks a nite, alaska air at $210.00rt and car at thrifty for 140 total a week for a pt crusier.that's cheaper than wendells show costs.i also have an offer from hooters for 39 bucks a nite,200 slot play, two show tickets, and daily drawings.so i am going to book a nite, take the goodies and run.i think this is how the locals play it.and now the knee report, and yes it was a pain n the a$$ and was very fatiguing on a daily basis.many of the pre trip plans were shelved just because i didn't feel like going there.daily naps and nitely knob creeks to kill the aching type pain.but you make the best of it and we always have fun and eat well.i am 5 weeks into post op and walking with a cane, most of the pain not in the knee but in the leg from lack of use? trip to follow

downhill on alaska air,so far always a good flight, and off to the rampart buffet to feast on,salmon, shrimp, crab, and some of the best prime i have ever had,go figure! hit the loose deuces but no luck, and our usual stop at vons for drinks and snacks and check in at the suncoast for two days great rooms at the suncoast, close to 600 square feet, not a bad view and a fridge in the room which is huge for us as we are always hustling ice for our little cooler.A+ on the room and it wasnt't a "view room",extra 15 a nite for that.a little booze, alittle snooze and spend an hour looking for makinos sushi summerlin, which we find out has closed, and head for makinos on decauter for sushi buffet to which linda says, once a trip we eat here!! it was that good plenty to eat for the non sushi eater and every kind of sushi you could possibly want to eat or you can have them make it for you.Lee you just gotta try this place!so the first day ends on a burp, leg is killing me,no major wins or loses, ahhh knob creek makes it all better! more to follow of course.

monday we head over to texas station to play and to treat linda to a lobster boil lunch at the texas star restaurant-1 1/2 lb. lobster, clams, corn, potatoes 30.00 bucks and it was cooked fresh and it was great,i had some oysters which were also very fresh and on ice, very tasty.hit the dime loose deuces hard but no luck.leg is killing me so back to the suncoast for medication and a snooze.if i remember corectly dinner was at the buffet in suncoast and it was generic at best but ok.hit the deuces hard at the suncoast no major wins but not going backwards either. linda having fun on penny slots and that means she likes this place so the suncoast goes on the stay again list even tho there is not a lot of bonus deuce machines for me to play.we did enjoy the suncoast and we will be back if they help me on the rates a little.tues is moving day to the orleans so i will continue this later.knob creek is calling. great kentucky bourbon by the way and does not need vermouth or bitters to taste great so i have invented the daves knob creek manhatten-multiple shots of knob creek, hold the vermouth and bitters serve over rocks, snooze!

I'm anxious to hear about the "free slot play" at hooters, dag.

I just got the same offer in the snail mail yesterday. The really, really fine print says it can be used on designated machines only. Wondering if that means you just can't use it on good payback machines (like the infamous disappearing deuces) or if it means a "special" bank of machines like at casino royale.

hmmm kes-you are right about the small print, and maybe going to pass on this offer as i was going to run the two hundred thru the deuces machines so to book this to play thier machines and to see a show that i do not have much interest in,i will probably pass.i will still go and run a couple of jacksons thru the deuces though.thanks for catching the small print for me!!

tues- i hate this part,no mater how i work it i lose half a day moving, pack up check out check in unpack eat lunch nap time, day shot.but we wanted to check out the suncoast and i didn't want to book the whole trip at the coast.leg is killing me and we opt to eat at the orleans t-bone dinner buffet-bad plan-but i eat just the filet side and some ribs so not to bad and spend the rest of the nite inhouse chasing the deuces but no luck and not to far backwards.the orleans has a ton of bonus deuces in all shapes and sizes plus loose deuces which i have never done any good on.well it's close to knob creek time and all is getting better.

I had a deal at Hooters a couple of months ago. It was $200 slot play and 2 show tix. The slot play was a certain bank of "special" slot machines. Not only was a certain roped off area of machines, they assign you as to which machine you play. I had already picked out a machine that I had watched on several occasions that people were ALWAYS doing well on and they would not let me play that machine. There was no room special as part of the package.

Dag, you've seen the rooms. They are comfortable. And it is convenient to the deuces and to the ribs you like. A one night stand at $39 isn't bad. Especially if you are already staying somewhere else. It could be a crash pad for a nap and you wouldn't have to pack or unpack.

i am still mulling it over my original plan was to do exactly as you said, checkin, nap, ribs, show, play the two hun,not a bad day for 39bucks.do you get to use the winning credits on other machines of your choice? i assume for me a lowly tourist that i would get a room in the annex area or as i call it the loose your liver section.i doubt i would ever stay over nite there.isn't this the place where they found the hooker or the client under the bed? and that would be dead!!

wed-finaly feel good enough to do a little road trip and off we go to sams.good plan as i hit the loose deuces for 2500 qtrs. which gets me well into the black and other machines keep me on the plus side.did this the last trip at sams also and yay i had my card in!gvr next and i had my first fatburger since i am kinda off the caveman this trip.a double king bacon cheese, fries, and a coke.OMG is this heaven!! join linda in penny heaven and have a fun afternoon chasing pennies before returning to the orleans for nap time and meet up with jmt at the point for our dinner at the primarily which i think we have described enough.always enjoy our time with joe and we have a great dinner.chase more deucs at the point and back at home base but no luck.thurs is getaway day and i head to the pro bass shops to look for lee<G> i thought i might find him there as there was a tommy sale,25% off which makes the 120 buck shirts only 90 bucks but no lee.finish our day at the point and the usual go home stuff, gas, return car ride to airport.long walk to security where i finaly catch a break with the cane and send me thru the handi line, the leg is realy hurting at this point and i needed that break.dinner at the airport of french fries and a coke from chilies which for me is gourmet catch another break on the plane with nobody sitting in the middle seat.poormans first class!! a couple of black jacks and we are home.not much of a rappup as the gimpy leg was a PITA,thank god it was a winning trip which made the pain a little more tolerable.c u all in april.

All of my free Hooters rooms were in the new tower.

Wednesday was great. Thanks again for dinner and company. 2500 quarters, a double king Fatburger with cheese and bacon, and a big delicious prime rib all in one day. You are the man.

Lose the cane.

C U in April.

Ahhhh, thank you for finishing off my fix and WTG on those Loose Deuces! I thought you'd like the rooms out at the SunCoast, and the view does make it easy to relax before snoozing. Did you find the Bonus Deuces that are straight out from their showroom? I primed those for someone last year, so you might as well have gotten my money back into the family<g>.

With all the good eats, which place would you go back to if you only had time for ONE meal on a layover in Las Vegas?

Sorry to hear the leg slowed you down -maybe you should try using that knob creek as a liniment. laugh

well i expected the prime to be good since that is what they called the restaurant, the really super meal was at makinos for sushi/japanese food which for the non sushi lover there was, calamari legs not the rubber bands you get as bar food, fried oysters, fresh oysters, pan fried shrimp, teriaki chicken, teriaki steak, tempura shrimp, tempura veggies, wonton soup, egg rolls,a dozen salads which contain varius treasures from the sea bottom and enough sushi that if you tried one each i don't think you could eat it all, deserts and green tea ice cream- burp! and with my senior discount it was twenty bucks.they will also make you any sushi you want

I'm not into sushi at all - Terry Bradshaw's comments pretty much cover my opinions<g>, but it sounds like I could find plenty of things to like at Makinos, including that senior discount. wink

My big question is, if ya had this trip with the gimpy leg to do over, would you still go?

Glad you were able to get around as much as you did and congrats on the seuces!

Welcome home DAG,
I must admit, I was sorry I didn't book in Feb, like you did. While you where having fun I was stuck here in the snow and cold! YUCK!
That Makinos sounds very interesting, do you happen to know the correct address??? I'd like to add this to the must do list for March!

Thanks for the great trip report, even if you did suffer a little with the Knee. I remember being on crutches one trip, what a PITA that was! A cane sounds like heaven! LOL

Doesn't look like we're going to mesh up on any trips this year at this rate. No Bass Pro shop meeting this time either. 25% off is a heck of a discount for those over priced shirts. It's a shame I like them so much!

No shows????

Our next trip in March, one hotel, you convinced me!

Thanks again for my Vegas fix.

dag, I checked out the deuces machines last night. They are still there and pay nicely. I must warn you that after you hit a couple of quad deuces for 3000, it knocks the sails out of a regular deuces machine that only pays 1000. I hit 'em again at the quarter level last night. Even at the nickel level, pay dirt can turn your whole day around. Sometimes I'll switch games on those machines just to break a losing spell or when I try to hit a banana on each game. Those deuces make DDB seem boring.

One other thing, they changed the music in Hooters. Instead of early 70's rock, they play 2000's rock (stuff I've never heard before). So bring an mp3 player.
