Doug, Read the article. This is just unbelievable. Ya know, years ago, this would never have been heard across the country. Now with the internet, LV can't keep all this hush hush anymore.

I heard the reason was: "you mean you picked so and so in the super bowl? You jerk."

"Hey, who you calling a jerk?" Bang, bang.

So, are you telling me, we all should be packing our Kelvar vests for the next LV trip?

This is amazing! Not just in LV, but all over the world, people are shooting people for not much of a reason! Sad....

What I find most interesting is that while the LVRJ had the story, the Sun had nothing. Makes you wonder who's paying the bills at the Sun?

Doug,
The shooting story was in today's Sun. The Sun and the RJ are both owned by the same company. One is a morning paper and the other is an afternoon paper. I can't remember which is which. The time of when the incident occured probably determined in which edition the report was seen first.

With the shooting at the Golden Gate, people were wondering if the casinos were going to think about having metal detectors at their entrances. Now with this shooting, I wonder if it will be brought up again.

This would be kind of tough since some of the casinos have armed security.

From what I've heard, firearms are not allowed in the casinos. But I wonder how many off-duty officers carry.

Re: the Sun & the LVRJ, I have a sister-inlaw who always said she did not like the idea of a one-paper city. I tend to agree.

FYI the Sun and RJ are printed in the same facility, but they are owned and run by two separate corporations. The Sun is owned by the Greenspun family, the RJ is owned by Donfrey Corporation. They each have completely opposite political views and are completely independent.

Thanks for the info Blossum. I was always under the impression that they were owned by the same company. I guess I was confused because they are printed in the same facility. Am I correct that one is a morning paper and the other is an evening paper?

I'm not sure that metal detectors would work at the casino's. All those little old lady's would have to dump their purses everytime they entered to play nickle mania.

Yes, Lee Ann, the Review Journal is a morning paper and it is extremely conservative, politically. The Sun is an afternoon paper and they are more liberal. BTW, in case you are interested, I get the Sun.
