When was you favorite trip to Las Vegas? What made it special?
I think my favorite trip to Las Vegas was last July when we went to celebrate my birthday. Michael put a lot of thought and planning into the trip, and it was wonderful. I felt very special and pampered. Michael even hired a limo to pick us up at the airport and drive us to the hotel. He had called the hotel to let them know it was my birthday, and they put flowers, candy and champagne in our room. We had a special table at Kokomo's that faced the waterfall, and the food and service were excellent. Of course the fact that we each got a royal flush on that trip helped to make for a great trip. Now I know I said your favorite trip, but I must admit there is 1 other trip that was just as great as that trip last year. That was the trip we just returned from. I enjoyed that trip so much because I got to spend some time with some of the Talk Vegas people. Spending time with the Talk Vegas gang made for a wonderful trip that I will always remember.

In 1984 we went to LV for the first time with some dear friends. My mom had just died and my friends suggested we all go to Las Vegas, and they had never been there either. They stayed at Bally's because Dan's trip was all paid for--he had won it in a sales contest, and we stayed at Caesars Palace, only because that was the one hotel I had heard of, having never been to LV before. My friends hated coming over to Caesars--they didn't like it at all, but I loved it! I guess I've had a thing for Caesars ever since <g>. We only stayed for 2 or 3 nights, and I don't think we ever slept. I guess the trip was so special because we were all Vegas virgins and had an absolute blast. Even though we have travelled back to LV with those same friends
a number of times, we still always talk about that 1984 trip.

The other trips we took with our friends I'll tell you about sometime. There's some good stories. <g>

Veronica,
I had a hard time trying to decide what my favorite trip was, because I have enjoyed every trip we have made to Las Vegas. I guess I must enjoy it, or I wouldn't keep going back. <vbg>
I can't wait to hear more of your favorite trip stories. <vbg>

Every trip is unique. The best ones are when we bring back more money than we came with. We also enjoy the ones when we've met with some of the folks on this board. Its always nice to put a face with the name.

Each trip is so different that its hard to pick one. With each trip there are new experiences. We try to stay at a different hotel each time, go to different shows, different restaurants, etc. Last year we had a great trip-we stayed at MGM for 4 nights-it was Gene's 40th B'day-so I planned to see 5 shows in 4 nights (EFX, Mystere, Tom Jones, Wrestling (Tom Jones and Wrestling were the same day)and Danny Gans, we ate at Emerils, Gallaghers, Rio (the seafood buffet) we had a wonderful room at the MGM we swam in the pool for an hour each day-saw Bellagio for the first time. We crashed a private party with the Wrestlers and we flew first class for the first time. I hope this year's trip can top last year's.

Carrie,
That sounded like one SUPER trip to me! People who post about celebrating his/her birthday in LV seem to have great trip reports. Will have to remind Fred I have a birthday coming up yet this year.

Carrie,
Thanks for posting your memories of your favorite Las Vegas trip. I remember reading your great trip report last year. Sounds like you guys had a blast. I guess people born in 1958 know how to have a good time in Las Vegas. LOL (I turned 40 last year also.) BTW, wasn't Gene supposed to return the favor and take you to Vegas this year to celebrate your 40th? Was that earlier this year? For some reason I thought it was. Or is this the trip you are looking forward to now? When is your next trip planned? Don't forget to let us know all about it when you get home!

Ken,
I agree with you 100%! Going home with extra money is the best Las Vegas souvenir. LOL However, even if I lost money on a trip, being able to spend time with the Talk Vegas gang in our favorite city, makes a trip special. Hope I get to meet you sometime soon. When is your next trip?

Beth,
I think Fred owes you a birthday trip. If he doesn't agree, tell him I came home with extra cash on my last two birthdays.

Lee Ann-
What a great memory you had- My 40th B'day was in March-it was a quiet one, but filled with one big surprise. In 1993 our home was burglarized and my engagement ring was stolen (we didn't have insurance on the ring). Well we were in the process of moving from Fl to Va so there were more important things to buy for the house.....My 40th B'day present was a beautiful new diamond ring-better than the original. I should have known something was up when we were in lv last October for Gene's B'day and he suggested that we window shop at Tiffany's at Bellagio (no he didn't buy it there) he was just getting ideas. The reason why I should have known something was up was Gene usually runs in the other direction when we get near a jewelry shop. So my 40th B'day was a wonderful dinner at Ruth Chris steakhouse with some of our friends and a beautiful new diamond ring. Not a bad deal. I think the perfect combination would have been the ring-the dinner and a trip to las vegas, but I really not complaining.

Our next trip is Sept. 9th to 13th. We booked the plane tickets but not the hotel yet. Sams Town is offering 3 complimentary nights and Flamingo Hilton is offering 2 (but has a better location). We're not sure.
