I have said this before on Classic and will say it again. I have been going to Vegas for about 25 years and have noticed the smog. The way the mountains ring the city, I think it is only a matter of time before it experiences the same type of problems as La. The growth is so fast that I dont think extent of problem will be recognized until it is too late. I remember the crystal clear view of the mountains, which now seems to be visable through a haze. The artificial water and vapor produced by man made lakes and all the mega houses airconditioning is going to lend to humidity rising, which isnt going to help release pollutants more freely. Result will be pollution getting worse and possible humidity will keep rising. Thus trapping pollution in the bowl. I know this may sound a bit out there, but from I have witnessed, it seems to be happening. Kevin in Mi.

Kevin,
That's part of the reaon we've started going to Mesquite. When driving back into Vegas, you cross the mountains and the valley looks like a bowl full of soup!
Kevin, I agree with your observations. We have only been going to Las Vegas for the last three years. On our first visit, one of the things that I really enjoyed doing was going up to the top of one of the parking garages and just looking at the mountains. They looked so beautiful. On our last visit, I did notice that there seemed to be a haze over the mountains. It sure doesn't seem like there is any end in sight to the rapid population and visitor growth, so I guess we can expect to see more of this is the future. Thanks for starting such an interesting thread for discussion. Lee Ann
