Las Vegas - 25 Years From Now!
Las Vegas - 25 Years From Now!
My business sometimes affords me the opportunity to rub elbows with some of the glitterati of Las Vegas. Most of the time it's just another couple of boring hours at a classy casino cocktail party and sometimes it's a few fascinating hours with a major sports or movie star disclosing how the times really were before he/she made it to the top of the pay scale heap.

Believe me when I say that none of them are as glamorous as their agents or their movies make them out to be. Far from it in fact!

But this is not about top Hollywood stars or million dollar athletes.

This is about the future of Las Vegas. Twenty-five years into the future in fact!

Those elbow rubbings have disclosed a lot of facts! Facts that may be of interest to you and me. Especially if your're responsible for planning a family reunion in 2025! (Far fetched, but true nonetheless! I was asked to plan that far ahead!)

One major Las Vegas mover told me about his and others' plans for the future of Las Vegas which I intend to share with you, the real fans of this great city in the desert. I don't think he'll mind at all, providing I don't disclose his/her identity! After all, it's good publicity!

This will be the new Las Vegas : (Stand by cause you ain't seen nothing yet!)

Where It's Going to be Located: There is an area right now surrounded by the following major thorofares, the most logical location -
Las Vegas Boulevard on the West
Paradise Road on the East
Sahara Boulevard on the South
Fremont Street on the North

Take a close look on a Las Vegas map. It's a pretty big area and it does not include the numerous peripheral areas that will be used to service this new and wondrous project. It serves now to separate the Strip from the downtown area of Fremont Street. It's going to be purchased by the major powers.

Principals Involved: A conglomeration of well known international hotel chains, banks, distilleries, motion picture and TV studios, theme parks and soft drink companies which will be incorporated as the Phoenix IV Redevelopment Project, Las Vegas, Nevada. (PFRPLVN)

Intent: To plan, develop, and manage a new Las Vegas "Island" visitor designation that will lead the city into the second half of the 21st Century and into the 22nd Century as the top visitor attraction in the world for both young and old.

What It's Planned to be:
A three phased project -
Phase I: The construction of three professional, 24 hour golf courses within an "Island" surrounded by a man-made Amazon River within the boundaries as previously specified to include related structures and modes of transportation (river, magnetic monorail, electric people movers, and robotic carts.) Private vehicles will not be allowed within the property (Island) but will be offered complimentary parking within air condition facilities located on the Eastern edge of the property.
Phase II: Construction of four (4) theme hotels. Three will be constructed on the "Island" & will include numerous luxury Guest Villas & private homes along the fairways and on the banks of the Amazon River.

Phase III: Casino construction. The "anchor" casino will be constructed at the entrance of the property in the vicinity of Las Vegas and Sahara Boulevards. Three additional casinos with individual themes will be constructed on the "Island" which will not be accessible to anyone under the age of 21.

Phase I -Golf Course Information: Two pro golf courses will be constructed for the exclusive use of hotel guests (no one under 21 except on weekends). Each foursome will be allowed the use of high two hi-tech robotic golf carts and the use of the exclusive Golfer's Satellite Tracking System for automatic and immediate golf scores, recommendations, and golf swing analysis, etc. Your game will be electronically video taped for your exclusive review and analysis at the Club House at no additional fee.

The third golf course will be reserved for the exclusive use of the Island Condominium Association of Owners and their guests.

Each golf course will be open 24 hours, seven days a week and lit from dusk till dawn by the new and exclusive, high tech "Beneath the Greens" lighting system. You won't believe it when you see it! Thirty professional tennis courts will be situated throughout the "Island" and will be similarly lit and available for guest's use 24 hours a day.

Each of the three courses will be thoroughly landscaped with a tropical theme and indigenous animals from Africa, India, and South America will appear to be roaming freely throughout the area. Guests need not fear, for unseen barriers will separate the beasts from the players and the beasts will be very thankful.

Every luxury imaginable will be offered to the guests on the greens. Even the best of pros will be there to serve as your caddy if such is your desire. (24 hour notice required)

Phase II - Four Theme Hotels - One at the entrance to the development and three on "Island".
Hotel #1: A high tech tropical hotel catering to Las Vegas first time visitors looking for first class but economical accommodations for a three-day vacation with or without children.

Although the casino will be off limits to anyone under the age of 21, the hotel accommodations will be divided into two distinct areas with its own check in and lobby area. One part of the hotel will be for the exclusive use of grown-ups and the other will be for the use of guests with dependants under the age of 21.

Nevertheless, the hotel has not ignored the needs of its younger guests and has developed far reaching plans to ensure that the younger crowd is entertained sufficiently so that they will beg their parents to be repeat customers.

Youngsters 4 to 6 will enjoy Cheetah's Village (adjacent to their parent's poolside cabana) where they will be able to frolic with baby animals of every description and splash in "Kiddy Waterways" under strict and licensed supervision.

Youngsters 7 to 12 will enjoy supervised sporting activities (swimming, canoeing, basketball, baseball, etc.) in the specially designed (designed to fit) Jungle Gym.

Teenagers 13 to 20 will have their own exclusive island opposite the hotel where they will enjoy every sporting activity imaginable including surfing and rough water rafting in the "Amazon River".

The more adventuresum guests may sign up and learn how to swing through the jungle trees "Tarzan style" and dive into crystal clear waters from 40 feet above. (Swinging lessons provided by former US Olympic Team Gymnastic members and Cirque du Soleil performers).

Or they may be thrilled with a scuba dive through an underwater cave to explore the treasures of an ancient city.

During the evening hours they can attend their own Island Luau and attend a concert presented by the most popular rock groups of the day. After the performance the members of the rock group will host a party and mingle with the guests for pictures and talk.

These younger guests may camp out on this Jungle Island while gazing upon glowing jungle eyes and listening to jungle roars only steps away.

These activities will be supervised by world renown "Invisible Hosts" who will ensure that all guests have a memorial time in a safe and sane atmosphere.

While the younger guests are having a memorial time on their own private Jungle Island, their parents may be having a before dinner cocktail laughing at the antics of the chimps in the "Monkey Bar" or while enjoying a four star meal in the hotel's "Banyan Jungle Treehouse" (four times the size of Treetops) overlooking an exact replica of the world famous African watering hole and the wild animals that it attracts every evening.

Meanwhile, across the Amazon River, (and within sight of all to see no matter where a guest is situated on the property) the earth will shake, and the animals will stampede across the veldt! And jungle trees will part, and with a mighty roar will appear - KING KONG!!!! Bigger than life and scarier than the original!!! He will proceed to grab the damsel from the canoe (yes, she will be paddling down the river three times each evening) and carry her into the jungle only to appear within minutes at the water's edge - a damsel in distress saved by her jungle hero - what's his name?!! (Don't say Bruce Cabot!)

This hotel will be the gateway to the "Island Beyond the Amazon River" which only those who are 21 or older will be able to visit.

You may travel to the Island as you see fit, but not by personal vehicle . There are no roads on the Island except for golf cart lanes. (Service vehicles will have access to underground roads leading from the eastern edge of the property to the hotels and casinos.)

To the Island by Boat - The African Queen I through XIV will deliver you to the hotel/casino of your choice by way of the "Amazon River" under waterfalls and through the rapids where you will witness primitive cities and wildlife and other wonders of the primitive jungle.

The first stop is an ancient golden city completely overwhelmed by the encroaching jungle. Wild beasts roam freely (enclosed by unseen barriers) and appear to enjoy its ancient splendor.

It truly is a tropical paradise overtaken by a superior force as if the jungle with the aid of a gigantic earthquake claimed it for its very own, but allows its human occupants to enjoy its splendor for a brief period of time.

A gigantic waterfall appears to have pierced the ceiling and falls freely om and through the center of the lobby and onto the river beyond.

The African Queen continues pass the jungle theme casino on its casual glide up the river and picks up speed on marvelously designed river rapids through canyons similar to the greatest canyon of them all (but on a far much smaller scale).

Then canyon walls recede and the intrinsic beauty of a desert golf course is seen by all. A course with million dollars homes guarding well manacured greens. It is a duffer's dream!

A lone golfer looks up, smiles, and waves. The passengers take his picture with disposable 3-D, instamatic,Kodak and Fuji cameras.

You had to bring up golf, didn't you. Tim is now waiting patiently for this to happen. He wants Greg Norman for a caddy. Do we book this far in advance?
