   Strip Monorail
   Strip Monorail
Hi,

Question. I had heard that they were talking about building a monorail behind IP, Flam. Hilton, etc. Then I heard they were having problems because some of the hotels didn't want to be part of it. Has anybody heard any more about the status of the rail??

Thanks
P.S. If someone already has a thread about this, please direct me to it... :-)

I have been following this story loosley. Most of the problem is the neighborhood around, I believe, the Desert Inn They are fighting it because they are afraid it will damage their property values. They have a good point. There are also some questions about how this will be financed.

It has a lot of political problems to overcome before it gets of the ground. No pun intended.

There have been a couple of storys in the LV Sun lately about the monorail. Presently plans would call for it to terminate behind the Sahara.
There is a lot of opositioin to this project and I really think it's going to get done.
They have the home owners in the Desert Inn Estates neighborhood fighting them at every turn. The city is a little worried about traffic problem and blockage of drivers vision by the support posts. Several buisness are starting to squawk about potential damage to their buisness, The Venetian is concerned that delivery trucks won't have easy access to the service entrance ect. ect. ect..........

So they city council has decided to have more studys on the project. I think they waited to long to develope this and now there is to much structure, to many buisness's, and to much opostion for it to be feasable. As the occassional tourist, I would love to see it work out. A good connection to the North strip would help revitalize that area.

What I've recently read states that the monorail system will stretch from Tropicana Avenue to Sahara Avenue. Work should start in January on the completely automated system (no drivers). When it
