Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

On St. Patrick's Day in 1988, Fitzgerald's Hotel and Casino opened.

Be sure to check out our Talk Vegas Las Vegas History Calendar. The calendar is a great place to learn some more about Las Vegas history and maybe test your knowledge of Las Vegas history trivia. You can reach the calendar by clicking on the link from the Talk Vegas Home Page.

1988, the place looks 100 years old inside! I guess this is what happens when you don't spend the money to update worn items, like carpet, gaming table felt and such!

Amazing it was 1988! I was in there once about 5 years ago and would have guessed
'60s.

I remember going upstairs to the second floor casino and someone was smoking a joint, and the place reeked of that smell.

I have never been in the Fitzgerald and I guess now I don't have to bother. LOL

According to the Talk Vegas history calender, the Fitzgerald was formerly known as the Sundance. Maybe it just reopened as the Fitzgerald with little or no renovations done to it. This might account for how it looks only 12 years later. Does anyone know anything about this?

All I know about the place is I went in there once a few weeks ago. There is a big sign near the slot club desk that reads that the casino is "some wonderful place" or something like that. The review was written by one of our old acquaintances Jeffrey what's his name.
