   Jet Service to Tahoe
Non-stop flights to Lake Tahoe from Burbank and Las Vegas and direct flights from Fresno aboard DC9 aircraft have been announced by Allegiant Air (1-877-202-6444). There is also non-stop service from Las Angeles or San Jose from Tahoe Air (1-888-824-6324).

DD: I woudl think the CA airfares are quite reasonable to divert the Californians from Las Vegas to Tahoe.

Veronica: What a difference it makes to look at this from different coasts<g>. I assumed the east coast visitors would be interested in tacking on a quick trip to Tahoe ....I never even considered diversion from the west coast.
It is a nice luxury to have direct Tahoe flights available; previously, you had to fly into Reno and take the bus over. There has always been an airport at Tahoe, but it was a small thing for crazy men in magnificent flying machines ....I'll have to make myself take a trip up there to check it out.

Daisy, it's been almost 18 years since I've spent time in Reno/Tahoe. At the time, I did not enjoy Reno very much. I really liked it at Lake Tahoe though. I wonder if things have changed any at either place.

Joe, you would still recognize Tahoe<g>. The south shore would look very much the same; Caesars is the newest casino there, and they are celebratig a 20th anniversary. There have been a couple of name changes and expansions, but the main growth is away from the lake. North Shore has grown much more, but it is still a beautiful retreat with more golf courses than casinos.
Reno's look has changed tremendously; some for the better and some NOT. The Silver Legacy-El Dorado-Circus "mall" is really nice, but the downtown area around Harrah's has suffered many closures.
Reno would be a feasible day trip from Las Vegas sometime; Southwest has several flights daily at $78 round-trip, and you could rent a car for the Tahoe loop (or arrange a pick-up by the General Lee<g> ).

It's about time, Daisy!

I assume that ecological concerns rather than commercial ones have kept flights from going straight into Tahoe.

JMT, Lake Tahoe is as beautiful as ever. The casinos are O.K. Unfortunately, it's the reverse in Reno. Not much to do and not much to look at (other than the beauty surrounding the city) but the casinos are superb, especially for video poker. My personal favorite is the Peppermill, but Atlantis, the Hilton, and Silver Legacy all have excellent conditions.

At both Tahoe and Reno, the dealers and casino personnel tend to be friendlier than LV.

Has anyone been to the newish Boomtown outside of Reno?

Dave, nice to see you here! I stopped off at Boomtown a couple of months back; their remodel has been going on for some time. The casino has been expanded a couple of times; they have put in a nice arcade area for kids. I haven't seen one of the rooms yet, but I have an offer from them so I'll try to check it out.
I'm looking forward to the new Sam's Town to be built out south of Reno on Virginia St.
