I know I'm giving away my age, but I remember my first trip to a casino. Resorts at Atlantic City had just opened so we took a bus from LI, NY. The bus driver didn't know the way to Atlantic City and he took us on surface streets through Brooklyn, and if I remember correctly, the bus ride took more than 6 hours. There was a line outside the casino waiting to get in, but we were allowed right in because we came by bus. The casino was so crowded, you had to wait in line to get a slot machine. When VP was introduced, the lines got even longer. None of us knew "full pay" even existed, so we played whatever we could get to. When other casinos appeared, we received free private plane transportation, opening night show comps with banquets after the show, and free rooms and food galore, and Hal and I were only $5 blackjack players at that time. We took advantage for several years before things changed. And this was without the mafia.
I guess things have changed a bit. LOL

Blossom,
I remember going to Atlantic City soon after Resorts open. In those days men had to wear jackets after 6pm in the casino. I'm sure all the guys are happy they don't have to do that anymore. LOL

Blossom & Lee Ann,
Remember all of what you two have mentioned. Also, my first visit to Resorts. Fred stayed on the boardwalk with our daughters while I entered the casino to gamble. New nothing about full pay, what to play or anything. Began playing a five line slot machine and in short order, hit all 7's on the fifth line. You know what happened next. I learned a hard lesson.....was not playing full coins.<g> I have NEVER forgotten that as I sure could have used that extra money.
