Mandalay Resort Group, in a joint venture with Atwater Casino Group, has started construction of a temporary casino which will have 75,000 square feet of casino space and is expected to be completed in September. The final plans call for 800 rooms, seven specialty restaurants, a 100,000 square foot casino, a full service spa and fitness center, a themed retail area and 75,000 square feet of meeting and convention space.

Daisy: Only 800 rooms? <g> We are so used to the behemoth hotels/casinos, that this new Detroit hote/casino sounds so SMALL!

Do you think your ratings at sister resorts will carry any weight here or at the MGM?

I think my ratings at the sister casinos will carry as much weight as the amount of stock I own.

Veronica: I had to do a little research on this thought......in comparison, my three old favorites show a lot of variety. The Reserve has 224 rooms, Sam's Town has 650 rooms, and the Orleans has 840 rooms, and my new favorite Golden Nugget has 1907 rooms. I guess you might say size isn't a factor with me<vbg>.

I talked to the MGM slot host, as of now the LV cards aren't good here, and MI cards aren't good there. But she said in about a year the points will be good for both places. So that means not untill after the temp closes.

Veronica, I think that's a great idea to list the number of rooms at each hotel. Some of us might want a smaller, friendlier place, but others might want to be in the center of a large crowd and lots of action. That way, we'd all have a much better idea of what we'd be getting into.
