A Canadian resort will go up against MGM Grand for control of the Motor City gambling market.

DETROIT -- If there's a sign that competition has come to the market for Detroit's gambling dollars, it's the billboard over freeways leading into Detroit that reads "Tax Free Winnings In Canada!"
The billboard is one of several moves by Canada's Casino Windsor to entice the 80 percent of its customers who come from the United States to keep making the trip to Windsor, Ontario, just across the river from Detroit.

It's only tax free if you cheat and don't tell them at the border, if they find out that you won and didn't claim it. I believe they call it tax evasion.<s>

They also get you on the exchange rate, when you change for their money, then when you change back. If you won and want to beat the tax they know that you have to change the money there.<s>
