   NYE - New York Style
We've all seen the effect of supply and demand on NYE prices in Las Vegas, but I was underwhelmed by the offer I just received for New York City........for $3295 pp/do, I can be in Times Square when the ball drops on the new millennium. My deluxe package would include 5 nights at the Marriott Marquis Hotel on Times Square, airfare (from California), 3 Broadway shows, "lavish" amenities (no mention of what these are<g> ), sightseeing tours, New Year's Day Brunch and door-to-door airport service.

Daisy:

The Marriot is a very nice hotel, and 5 nights is probably worth around $2000 while airfare from CA is worth a few bucks too.

I guess if you add in 3 Broadway shows along with the other items you mention, the price is not really THAT bad. I'm serious!

Does it say anywhere that all taxes are included? Hotel tax is 13.25% and sales tax is 8.25%, so that jacks it up.

I wonder which Broadway shows?

Veronica, no mention of which shows. I can forward the info to you since I can get 5 nights at home, 3 videos from Blockbuster and a fishing tour of the Delta for a little less<g>.

Daisy: I didn't mean I would PAY that price--just that the value of the package for NYE doesn't seem to be as much of a rip as some that I have seen around the country.

My daughter is clearing out of Manhattan for NYE, as she is convinced it's gonna be out of control, so I'd have a free place to stay anyway if I want to go there, but I doubt NYC will be my NYE destination.

Last night I asked my favorite local restaurant here in town if they still have openings for NYE and was told they haven't even started taking reservations yet. GOOD! Now I have a shot at spending NYE somewhere fairly sane <g>.

V,

Maybe you have a place to stay in NYC but where would you park?

Jeff: It's funny you brought up the parking thing....that's why I edited my note and took out that part where I was whining that the parking probably will be double the usual rip-off.
