Park Place Entertainment plans to spend between $20 to $25 million expanding Bally's Wild Wild West Casino (my personal favorite) on the Boardwalk by demolishing the Caesars-owned Warners Theater located next to the casino and use the land Bally's has owned for years near Caesars new hotel tower. This construction will take place after Park Place takes possession of Caesars World Inc. to the tune of $3 billion. The expansion will include new retail shops, restaurants and bars, and casino space.
The company also has said it is still considering plans to develop Caesars
"The Donald" is SUPPOSED to be putting up a new one on the boardwalk.
As for Bally's, I hope whatever they do doesn't look like another "add-on". IMO, most of their remodeling is not all inclusive and the final result never looks as though it was planned very well. Yes, WW West looks good, but also appears as you enter from the original casino, as another add-on.
Thanks for the info on the new addition being planned.
According to USA Today's Monday edition, the expansion will cost $25 million and is set to start. Plans are for the addition to house 300 slot machines, plus retail outlets and restaurants, according to officials.
Looks like the closing of an All-Star Cafe doesn't just stop in Las Vegas. Rumor has it that the Donald has bought the All-Star Cafe, and they now take Taj comps.
<<Anybody know how long it takes to drive from Boston to Atlantic City?>>
ROTL....LeeAnn & I were discussing that last night! I have no idea of the traffic & such, but according to my Road Atlas program, the trip is 340 miles and 6 hours of driving.
V, I try to take one "non-Las Vegas" trip each year, and Boston is on my list of possibles this year. If your ears were burning last night, LeeAnn & I were trying to figure out how much fun the three of us could have with a side trip to AC.

V,
You can probably figure 6 hours if you don't go at rush hour or during beach traffic. When I lived in Ct, I was right on the path between the two. It would usually take me 3-3 1/2 hours to AC and 2 - 2 1/2 hours to Boston. But you need to know the right routes and speed like crazy!
Randy: Thanks for the bad news! 6 hours sounds about right with the drive from Boston to NYC being about 4 hours and then 2 more hours from NYC to get to AC. Ouch. Even though Foxwoods would be closer, I would rather go to AC. (Well, actually, I'd rather go to Vegas.)
Got my Bally's AC newsletter this afternoon. Cashback coupons too! That $25 million expansion mentioned above will also include a walkway between Bally's and Caesars, so I hope they don't touch Pickles restaurant. The new expansion is supposed to open in September.
Does anyone know where the "Garden" rooms at Bally's are? There is a reference in the newsletter which says: <<these newly redesigned hotel rooms....stone walls and murals on the ceiling [murals on the ceiling?] will complete this gardenesque theme for you....>>
The newsletter says Spring Edition 2000; however, there is a reference to some February promos that have come and gone. I hate when casinos send out their newsletter with "expired" news. Desert Inn in Las Vegas is guilty of that regularly.

If anyone is heading to Atlantic City, here is a promo from the Claridge that I found advertised in our local paper today.
"Through March 21st, when your rated play qualifies you for a CompCard GOLD check, you will also accumulate Spring Fling Bonus Cash Dollars of equal value!
At the end of the qualifying period, you will receive one Spring Fling Bonus Cash check for the total value of dollars you accumulated. Then visit the Claridge anytime from April 1st through April 30th, and we will redemm this Spring Fling Bonus Cash check for you!
And remember, the more you play with your CompCard GOLD through March 21st, the more Spring Fling Bonus Cash Dollars you can earn!"
With the purchase of Mirage Resorts by MGM Grand, speculation is that MGM will probably abandon its plans to build independently in Atlantic City and go with the Mirage Resorts project, since it is further along in the development process and has a more desirable location.
Anybody know when Mirage Resorts was to build their new resort in AC? It seems like it's been years and years that this project was supposed to begin. This could be another case of we will believe it when we see it, especially with MGM now in charge, and they are looking to reduce their debt.
I understand that Mirage Resorts just last Wednesday told the "powers that be" in AC that they would not begin building Le Jardin until the city had all the infrastructure in place and ready to go. Sounds like a good excuse for not building to me. Everything is certainly torn up in the marina area.
