I saw this story on the news tonight. They showed the workers walking the picket lines in the rain. They also interviewed some visitors to AC, who said that some of the restaurants in the casinos were closed due to the strike. From what I understand from the news report, the non-union workers are those who work at the chain restaurants in some of the casinos, such as Planet Hollywood, etc. It will be interesting to see what happens at the Miss America pageant this weekend.
In other AC news tonight, Governor Christie Whitman has already declared New Jersey in a state of emergency due to the possible arrival of Hurricane Floyd to the New Jersey shore area. This has been done as a precaution, so if necessary, she can immediately call the National Guard into action. Atlantic City schools have already been cancelled for tomorrow and possibly Friday.
