   New Casino for Connecticut?
According to Gaming Today, Donald Trump will be entering into a deal with the Paucautuck Eastern Pequots to develop a new casino in Connecticut. It would be located in the same area as Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Final approval should come sometime within the next eight months.

Lee Ann: Thanks for the news. Perhaps now the VP *may* improve with the increased competition.

Did the report say anything about a hotel? Usually the casino is built first, and then the casino profits are eventually used to build a hotel. Of course in this case, you never know what The Donald is planning on doing. If he is going to run for President with Jesse Ventura as VP, he may put the casino idea on the back burner....like he's got a chance of winning the Presidency!

Veronica,
The article didn't state if a hotel would be built. It was called a casino "complex", so I don't know if that means that the hotel would be built now, or if they would be building it later.

Lee Ann, The Eastern Pequots are not (to the best of my knowledge) a Federally recognized tribe. They have been filing lawsuits and making vast land claims for years all over Fairfield Co. where I live. The State Attorney General has been doing battle with the tribe over these frivolous claims. Until the day the tribe is recognized by the Federal Government they don

John Sr.:

Well, that's The Donald for ya...making promises that he can't necessarily keep.

Hi John,
I have never been to either of the Connecticut casinos and I really didn't know anything about the tribes that own the casinos there.

Here is what is stated in the article. The way the article reads it makes it sound like ownership of the land isn't in question.

"Chief James A. cunha Jr. announced last week that Trump will be the tribe's development partner to open a third casino complex in eastern Connecticut, not far from Foxwoods Resort and Mohegan Sun. The Paucatuck Easterns share a 224 acre reservation at Lantern Hill with the Eastern Pequots. A preliminary ruling from the federal Bureau of Indian Affairs to operate a casino could come as early as next week or up to eight months down the road."
