According to the LV Review Journal, Station Casinos will join with the United Auburn Indian Community to build a tribal casino complex between Sacramento and Reno. The casino complex would be located on a 49 acre site 7 miles north of I-80 in the Rocklin/Roseville/Lincoln area, and plans call for a $100 million complex with 1500 gaming machines, more than 50 table games, dining facilities and entertainment. Placer county officials have publically supported the project, but the three city councils have voted to oppose the contruction, and the mayors of the cities have joined with a citizens group (Citizens for Safer Communities) which will oppose the development, citing a fear of increases in gambling problems, alcoholism and drug abuse. The Bureau of Indian Affairs has not yet approved the transfer of the private site to the 160-member Indian community.
